Put together nicely for a 2023 grad with room to add size, Brandsma showcased his physicality in the field and on the mound. A real 1st baseman by trade, Brandsma showed good footwork and the ability to pick around the base, and smooth actions fielding. Throws from a high slot, big target to aim at over at 1st. Hitting wise, he showed some power potential, catching some hardened barrels. Has a smooth and straightforward swing, repeats it well, controls his load and leg lift well. He could benefit from bat path work, although he has a solid base to work within the box.
On the hill, Ryken showed a straight over-the-top delivery with a high-70s FB. Off-speed is developing, but good, and with continued refinement, Ryken could have a nice repertoire. Strong repetitions and improved athleticism will help Ryken's game improve quickly. It should be a fun watch to develop.
