8/01/23

Cape Cod: Pumped strikes as a freshman at Oregon State this year, posting a 35-7 K-BB mark in 38 innings over 22 appearances. He was even better this summer for Chatham, going 2-0, 1.14 with a 12-2 K-BB mark in 15.2 IP.  A physical 6-foot-3, 220-pounder with a high three-quarters slot, Jimenez pumped lively two-seamers at 90-92 mph this summer along with an 86-87 mph splitter that serves as his finish pitch. He also mixes in a a slurve that could use some definition. Jimenez impressed this summer with his maturity and competitiveness on the mound, as well as his feel for pitching. He should be a critical piece for the Beavers in 2024 and could jump up draft boards in the future if his fastball can tick up a bit.

7/11/21

Delivery: Standing at 6’4”, Aidan presents himself with confidence, standing tall with both feet together, uses a quick side step and high leg kick.  Keeps hands at mid section for easy hand separation.  Hands separate as leg work down the mound.  Arm gets up quick, and easy movement through the wind up.  Oregon State commit, threw a lot of strikes.

FB: With easy delivery and arm action, Aidan’s fastball is 89 mph, commands well and elevates for swing and misses

CB: A  good 12/6 break with depth, spin is tight and in control.

CH: Tunnels like the fastball, has late drop and moves away from left handed hitters. Velo difference was 10 mph at 79 mph

SL: With tight spin, slider moved quickly across the plate.  Used as a swing and miss pitch, but threw as a get me over pitch to work hitters backwards

6/16/21

Area Code Tryout - Oregon State commit; Big frame, outstanding body type for future size and strength, loose arm works easily, delivery was a bit out of sync from when we saw him a week ago at ProCase, FB was in upper-80s vs touching 92 a week ago, high-3/4 slot, feel of quick slider (78-80) and pounds the CHG (80 mph) down in the zone. Highly projectable with potential to sniff 92-94 in spring of 2022, which would have him firmly on draft radar in the region.

6/08/21

With his big frame at 6-foot-4, 205-pounds, and overall presence on the mound, the Oregon State commit did not disappoint. Possesses all the tools to be a complete pitcher as well as room to get stronger in his body and frame.

Delivery: With his hands starting at his face, he uses a simple but quick side step to get his big, high leg kick in motion. He gathers at the top of the leg kick with his hands staying in position. The separation is smooth, and he gets the throwing arm in a position to work back down the mound. With a high-3/4 delivery he was able to get on top of all his pitches well. In the stretch, he used an abbreviated leg kick, but he is still able to gather on his backside and release to get his hips and shoulders working together.

FB: Topping out at 91, he was able to stay in the upper 80s to low 90s. The command was there as well as willingness and ability to challenge hitters on both sides of the plate.

SL: With a very firm and sharp off-speed pitch, Jimenez was able to get depth in the strike zone. This pitch was consistent and complemented his FB, getting a few swings and misses.

CH: With a speed differential of close to 10 mph, the feel for the pitch was there. The late action that moves away from left-handed hitters allowed for the pitch to be used effectively in his arsenal.

Summary: With the build, pitch ability, and overall presence, he showed attributes that will give him an opportunity to compete early for innings at the major DI level. All three of his pitches complement each, and his free and loose delivery makes for him to be a very good pitcher, especially when considering his ceiling.

5/06/21

at Jesuit HS - Oregon State commit; ProCase 2021 attendee; Long strong body, well-proportioned, not done putting on size and strength and mass, loose arm, works easy, fluid on backside with some length, elbow rises just about to shoulder height as he uncoils, gets to high-3/4 slot, in-line stride, opens front foot a bit at flattish landing, finishes through target well with backside hip powering through, finishes in stable athletic position, FB not overwhelming in the eyes of the hitters he faced, sat 86-87 T88, sinking FB elicited numerous ground balls as he came in to close a tight game (defense didn't stand up behind him), big slower slider with some tilt and depth, slider can resemble traditional CB. Started game at SS and made the routine plays, hit in the 2-spot in line-up.
