PBR CA STATE GAMES - One of the top players in the 2022 class. Athletic projectable frame with build of typical prototypical SoCal shortstop. At plate works with crouched stance keeping low hands and ability to get loose hands through the zone; bat speed is real. Defense showed good range during the games with quality footwork; didn’t have his best overall defense during the weekend, but the actions project well especially the arm strength. Picked up a hit in the Infield and showed his speed stealing second base as well.

Walters is going to be a household name in recruiting circles in short order. The uncommitted rising sophomore may have had the best overall day of any player. After running a hand-timed 7.25 60-yard dash, Walters showed off his power during BP where he routinely hit balls off the fence and sprayed balls on a line to all fields from a compact and efficient crouched setup. The power continued in-game when he launched a no-doubt home run off an 87 mph fastball on the outer half. Defensively his actions are smooth with developing arm strength. He shows the characteristics of a shortstop and will likely have the chance to play there in the future. The arm strength is fair.

Walters opened eyes during his first at-bat when he laced a line drive to left field and trotted into second base with a stand up double. Then I watched him closely as he played defense and was hooked. He moves very well to both sides and although he was playing second base you can see the arm strength that will likely slide over to shortstop when there's an opening at the position. Flashes speed and has the frame that will fill out and add power to his present bat speed.
