9/20/19

Fall tournament - Uncommitted; Strength and usability of that strength has improved, displayed STRONG hitting hands and drove the ball with authority to right field, all field approach and good swing plane, intrigued to see how his spring season goes, there are some hit tools to pay attention to.

3/23/19

At Los Gatos - Uncommitted. Came in relief for final three innings showing four pitches and keeping hitters uncomfortable. FB 79-81 MPH being heavy through the zone. Mixed in SLD 70-76 MPH with short flat cut and CB 59-64 MPH that was slow with loop before big depth into and through the zone. 4K and a range of ground balls during his three innings.

1/13/19

Central Valley Preseason ID Outfield - Medium frame with a wide chest and squared shoulders showing strength in upper half; lower half in proportion to the rest of the body. Short quick stride with good leg speed; runs with high upper body (7.33 60-yd dash). Open, balanced stance with high hands set up; coils around back hip with hands working back and down. Bat works on an upward path with quickness through the zone and ability to drive liners gap-to-gap; flashes of more when really letting lower half attack (92 exit velo). Reacts well to the ball with good angles and shows a compact arm with some wrist turn in the backside from RF; flashes of above average with good extension and finish through the ball keeping it online and straight (83 mph).

1/13/19

Central Valley Preseason ID Pitching - Strong and lean athletic body at 6-foot-0 170-pounds, participated as 2-way player; On mound displayed overhand slot, high knee lift, loose backside arm action with some inversion, has arm speed that suggests more velocity can come, good direction though opens up stride foot early, spins off aggressively as his arm is working to get extension, fastball fairly straight (77-79 mph), flashed one biting curveball (63-64 mph) but others slipped out a bit early as he was overthrowing it a bit, stretch curveballs were much slower (56-57 mph), showed feel of change-up (67-68 mph), occasionally pushed and got under that pitch but it was the pitch with which he controlled his delivery best.

4/13/18

3/31/18 & 4/13/18 - Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame; lean, wiry frame with ability to continue to add strength and maturity; wider shoulders and chest project out a bigger and stronger player. 1-3, BB, RBI. Rangy, strong-armed RF with projectable room for growth and continued maturity. Wider stance with knees turned in towards each other; high hands with pre-swing bat bounce off back shoulder. Toe-tap timing mechanism while keeping front shoulder tucked and loading hands back slightly;looks to turn bat into strong hitting position rather than load. Quick hands with more level bat path; tendency to hit from front foot due to toe-tap. Bat can get long as hands get away from body with his aggressive pull side approach; off-speed on outer half of plate leads to easy ground balls. Shorter running stride can be improved and lengthened for more explosive speed; plays better underway (4.6, 4.7 H-1 st ). Defensively shows off as very rangy in RF with quick reactions and above-average arm; covers ground to both sides with strong hip turn to go get the ball. Throws are regularly on bag and head high with carry through the cut man. Defensive game is above offensive currently, but small tweaks to the offensive game could make him a big-time player.
