5/18/18 - The Stanford commit toed the rubber in the first round of the playoffs and did not disappoint. Working 88-90 with the fastball early, Dieter settled in at 86-88 the rest of the way. The slider was unhittable at 79-82 with late tilt and life. Dieter threw the pitch in any count. Curveball was sharp with bite at 73-74, a velocity he maintained throughout his start. Dieter made a nice in-game adjustment going to the cutter once his fastball was touched for a double in the 4th inning. The cutter dipped to 84-87 but showed major run and movement. At one point Dieter retired 14 straight hitters and finished with 8 strikeouts.
4/3/18 - 4/6/18 - Grinded on the mound with advanced feel for a three pitch mix. Worked exclusively out of the stretch with effortless feel for the zone. Fastball was consistently 88 mph. Might have been a few notches higher when he needed it, but it was pretty much 88 throughout. He countered it with advanced feel for an above average changeup at 79-81. Really turned it over with dying-fade to the arm side. The breaking ball is an average pitch at 72-74, but his feel for it in the zone allows it to play up a bit. Slight stab in the back. Elevated the fastball when needed. Some arm side run to the fastball. Lots of changeups overall. COMPETES! Quiet confidence all-around from him. At the plate, he doesn't try to do too much. Front foot gets down early as he sets up and he uses the entire field. LIne drives to all fields, and made adjustments late to line balls through the right side. He's the guy you want at the plate with the game on the line. Not big power right now with a more wiry-athletic frame, but it could come in the future. Winner.
8/24/17 - Named to Team USA 18U team.
7/10/17 - Named to Team USA 18U trials roster.
6/29/17 - Has impressed with his two-way abilities over the last two days. On Wednesday, the 6-foot, 175-pound Stanford recruit showed off his three-pitch mix and competitiveness on the mound. On Thursday, Dieter made several athletic plays in the field while playing with energy and bounce. At the plate, he ripped a double to left field, walked twice, scored a run and stole two bases.
6/28/17 - Contributed to moving a game along that had a slow pace. He entered the game in the sixth and logged three innings, allowed two walks while striking out three. A Stanford recruit, Dieter is a legitimate two-way prospect. He is athletic and put on a good BP Tuesday. On the mound, He was 86-90, touching 91, and mixed in a curveball at 73-74 and a changeup at 80-82. The changeup looks to be his best secondary pitch right now with sink and run. He has a short arm action, making it tough to pick up the ball, and pitches with an up-tempo delivery.
4/1/17 - A Stanford recruit, Dieter propelled South Hills into the semifinal game by stifling a tough Archbishop McCarthy lineup. He pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits, a walk and hit batter while striking out six. He pitched mostly in the high 80s and showed feel for his secondary stuff while throwing 65 percent strikes. He also went 7-for-14 at the plate with a double.

11/4/18: Medium frame with high waist and lean build in legs; frame has room to add strength as he matures. Balanced, slightly open stance with wider base as hands stay high with a high back elbow; rock load into back hip as back shoulder loads deep with hands moving towards back shoulder as well. Back elbow tucks to body with quick bat being on plane and finishing level through the zone; showed some barrel control driving liners into all parts of the OF with some deep gap drives as well. Average runner (4.56 on infield single) that looks quicker and more athletic once full speed; uses quick feet and agility to make plays on defense. Solid footwork at SS/2B able to work smoothly through the ball with timing and rhythm in plays; glove hand has times where it gets stabby at the ball but very minimal and can be corrected. Strong arm with ability to be compact and quick; able to make all plays from MIF including in six-hole. Also a pitcher, though I didn’t get to see him on the hill on this look. (Ozella)

7/16/18: 6-foot, 175 pound, medium, athletic wiry frame with some physical projection remaining. Similar body type to Nomar Garciaparra. Offensively, Dieter has a good approach and impressed with adjustments he made at the plate throughout the game. Quick hands to go along with good bat speed. Has the ability to hit hard line drives to all parts of the park. Battles every at-bat, fouled off numerous pitches to extend the at-bat. Defensively, Dieter showcases his best current tools. Quick twitch athlete with soft hands and quick feet. Plus arm with the range to stay at short. Makes exciting plays. Very polished defender for his age. Above average runner with good base running skills. Also a prospect on the mound, sits 86-89 mph and touched 91. Spins a tight curveball, flashes a change as well. Overall, Dieter is one of the most exciting players I’ve scouted this summer. Strong follow for the 2021 draft. (Joe Pera)
