Commit to UC Berkeley, lean and wiry build. Showed savviness for the game when he steps on the field. Clearly knows the game well, has confident actions.

60 yd: Bouncing on his toes for rhythm, able to start out quick and hold that momentum through the 60 yards.

MIF Def: With a solid wide stance for balance, quick hop at ball impact, and side step to read bounce, able to see each hop and pick each one cleanly. With an easy smooth glove to ball to throwing hand, you can see him as a stable infielder. Quick release from the ear, and more importantly accuracy was perfect. The savviness shined with a ball in the hole, then coming up to use the turf to get the ball there quicker. All transfers and throws to second were on time, easy to handle.

Hitting: With a slightly wide stance, where knees are inside feet and hips are on top of knees, his balance is impeccable. Even with a waggle of bat and slight movement, lower half stays in control. On each pitch the barrel gets into a good position to attack any location. The hands work well with the rest of the body, making a tight turn to the ball and possessing the ability to drive to all fields. Some gap-to-gap power, has slight leg lift to get swing moving, but the plus piece are his hands.

Summary: Enjoyable to watch, smoothness in the field to the way he handles the bat. Potentially an impact player in short order at the next level.

Fall tournament - Uncommitted; One of the more talented 2022 SS we've seen, Campbell is going to be an offensive force and also possesses talents to be an above average defensive player. Plays the game with confidence and carries himself with body language that can positively affect his teammates. Showed off a strong arm on a play that took him to a deep backhand that can keep him at SS, with the ability to flick a quick snap throw and get good mustard on the ball across the diamond. Range will have to be something he works hard to develop in order to stay up the middle. Otherwise, 3rd base will be an option and there he looks to have the offensive talents to profile at that position. Campbell has hitters hands and is aggressive. He sees the ball well and early and showed the ability to get the barrel to the ball in multiple zones. Now, developing more zone discipline will be important so he's not getting himself out on pitches that are out of the zone. Good top hand finish, he did show a pull-side approach that limited his ability to drive pitches on the outer half. His body is lanky and rangy and there is ample room to fill out.

6/13/19

Summer Scout - Long frame with lean build and athleticism. Showed the athleticism with a jump to take away a hit at 2nd base and showed solid footwork there all day; showed off his arm as well with a quick turn to complete a double play with a loose and compact arm that can stay in the middle of the field. Quick, compact barrel with level swing after knee tuck staying balanced through contact. Game 1 saw him pick up two hits with a double into LCF that was hard off the barrel before another hard contact into RF for a single. Also went two innings on the hill showing running FB (77-82 MPH) and long, deep CB (67-71) with 12/6 shape

1/27/19

PBR N CA Preseason All-State - Length in lean medium frame; very projectable young frame with plenty of room in the frame. Controlled effort runner with average stride length (7.62 60-yd dash). Tall stance with slight bend of the knees keeping high back elbow and even hands with flat bat;hands work down as bat lifts with knee tuck. Controlled swing having quick upward path while staying behind the baseball; projectable swing showing growing strength and ability to go gap-to-gap with swing (79 exit velo). Short, controlled feet stay underneath him well and flashes of more range; compact and quick arm with ability to throw from different angles based on position (76 MPH).

1/27/19

1/27/19 - PBR N CA Preseason All-State - Long, lean, lanky young body type on 5-foot-10 140-pound frame, long-ish arms, looks got be solidly projectable in a physical sense, good delivery, easy fluid lift, compact and smooth backside arm action, strides on-line and maintains balance, overhand slot, good extension, all looks set-up for future velocity and stuff gains, fastball (T81) got firmer as the session went along with velocity on last pitch, held velocity in stretch, occasionally created good fastball angle and run, comes out easy and should steadily gain velocity as he physically matures, big curveball (67-68 mph) thrown with feel in wind-up but lost some feel in stretch, 12/5 type break and flashed quick change of direction, still developing feel of the change-up (72-73 mph). Looks to have a good future on the mound, physical gains obviously will have a lot to do with his development.
