Positional Profile: 2B/3B
Body: 5-8, 170-pounds. Smaller athletic frame with present strength
Hit: RHH. Sets up slightly open and upright, is also pre-internally rotated Toe tap trigger. Short and compact swing. Uphill swing path. Pull side tendencies.
Power: 81 mph exit velocity from the tee. Line drive gap to pap power. Higher exit velos on inside pitches per trackman data.
Arm: RH. INF - 81 mph. Throws out of the ¾ slot with a short and quick arm action. Throws were accurate and flashed carry.
Defense: Clean footwork with soft and quick hands. Plays through the ball and is comfortable fielding on the move. Good range especially glove side.
Run: 7.32 runner in the 60.
Uncommitted. 5-foot-8, 165-pounds. Strong, physical, frame with some projection remaining from a strength standpoint. Martinez shows a short, compact swing where he gets the barrel through the zone on plane consistently. Has some present bat speed and a good understanding of the strike zone and pitch recognition while showing an opposite field approach with some pop to that side. Registered an exit velocity of 80 mph off a tee. Had a standup double in-game action. Defensively is where Martinez really stands out where his instincts, footwork and quick hands take over. He was consistently in proper position and is an excellent communicator on the field. The arm strength is fair (74 mph) and accurate showing the ability to make throws from multiple angles.
SoCal Underclass Games - Five-foot-8, 155-pounds, medium frame with significant strength in the lower half, sloped shoulders with strength into arms. Martinez was a toolsy infielder that shows flashes of potential power with the bat. He was consistently on the barrel both during BP and in-game with a short, compact stroke that flashes some present bat speed. Both power and bat speed project with added strength. Showed the ability to get bat on the ball when beaten by a pitch. Defensively he shows fluid footwork and range to both sides. Arm is strong enough to make throws from multiple angles. Plays on heels at times. Good communicator.
