1/19/19-1/21/19- 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, strong athletic build, all-around athlete. Confident player, natural leader, high baseball IQ. Releases from a high three-quarters arm slot, average arm speed, loose arm action, plus balance and easy effort. Rhythm is smooth pitch-to-pitch, shoulders are level, directionally sound with consistent landing down the mound. Fastball sat in the 86-88 mph range with good downward plane and command on both corners. Breaking ball sat in the 73-76 mph range and showed plus feel for the pitch, breaking at a 2/8 plane with late movement and the same arm speed as the fastball. Flashed a change-up in the 77-79 mph range with late sink and fade. Plus runner who looks to take the extra base, covers ground in the outfield well, shows slightly above average outfield arm. Fluid approach at the plate, arms and legs are free and easy, hip drive in sync with the upper half, slight leg kick, repeatable swings. Barrel carries through the zone on a level plane allowing for an all fields approach. Showed power to left and right with extra base hits to both sides. Struggled with timing on right-handed change-ups, handled left-handed pitching well.

4/13/18 – The athletic two-way USD commit was on his game for the Oilers today on the bump vs Newport Harbor. He picked up the win working 5 innings on 78 pitches, giving up 3 hits, 4 walks, and struck out 6. Pelc featured a 81-83 mph FB, topping out at 86. He commanded his CB at 72-74 and mixed in a deceptive CH. Pelc was 0 for 3 the plate, with a walk, RBI and 3 quality at-bats.

4/3/18 - 4/6/18 - Has the frame of a football player with lean strength throughout, and really competes. Fast arm that was up to 86 early on from a high ¾ slot. Worked mostly 83-85. Changeup 74. Slider/curveball worked 67-74. He varied the shape and speed of it well, and had good confidence in the pitch. Could be a good middle relief two-way guy because of his ability with the breaking ball. Took bigger, 1/7 shape when thrown slower, and more slider shape that he buried late in counts at a harder velocity. Normal effort out front. Dropped his slot to throw the slider a bit. At the plate, he utilizes his speed well and runs athletically. Clocked him at 4.07 on a ground out. Hands and head drift forward a bit, but he shows an uphill path with a stronger bottom hand from the left side. Speed really plays, which may give him a chance to play centerfield in the future. Good hands and above average arm. Love the athleticism.

1/12/18 - University of San Diego commit. Defined upper body, proportional strength. Pelc started a game against Bishop Gorman in which the left handed pitcher worked primarily 83-84 while touching 85 with the fastball that he worked around the entire quadrant. Curveball was 70-71 and shows some depth. Slider was 77-78 with big, sweeping actions. Pelc - a natural outfielder - shows athleticism on the mound when fielding his position. Using a slightly hunched over stance, he drops the ball below the waist before driving through the release. Elbow stays tight to the body.
