2/22/20

at De La Salle - Uncommitted; 6-foot-3, 250-pounds is going to throw VERY hard someday. When that someday is, TBD. Loose arm, big body that is going to have to be shaped and developed as he matures, but is capable of providing a base and strength to facilitate a big time arm. It wasn't a great outing by any means, but so what. The arm works really easily and the mechanics are still a work in progress. Stride leg lands in good shape but then stiffens up quite a bit which tends to force the ball out sooner than he wants at times. A softer/firmer front leg will allow the release point to be more consistent, allowing him to locate the fastball better. That fastball location was an issue in this outing but the life on it and chance to develop a 90+ fastball (and HEAVY w/occasional power sink) in pretty short order were quite clear. Curveball has the right shape and spin, though again, that release point and lower body mechanics need to help that curveball along. It's got a chance to be a pretty big 11/5 downer in the mid-70s, but will take some adjustments to get there. He will have to work on getting out of trouble better (and not creating his own) but a lot of that will come when he can locate the fastball better.

7/12/19

Area Code Games Tryout - uncommitted; full body but strong and athletic, displayed home run power in the BP round, fast hands and appears to have bat control as well, the power potential is very much real, defensively possesses strong arm (79-80 mph) and can hold his own at the position; on mound the arm strength also showed up, overhand slot, short arm action, pretty loose arm, showed control with the fastball (85-87 mph) and went inside well to right-handed hitters.
