V Live Oak - Montana State-Billings Commit. Medium, long frame with length in legs and squared up shoulders; some current strength and athleticism in frame. Hands start at chin work down to waist on side-step lifting to mid-chest with high front knee tuck staying tight to his body. Arm unwinds well with small elbow behind the back as arm quickly works to H3/4-release; arm shows late speed with whip through extension. Sinks into lower half early getting excellent push down the hill finishing over bent front knee. Times where the front shoulder opens early causing arm to pull through; very aggressive with the front side that adds velocity, but also causes some control issues. Went to stretch only in 4th/5th innings and showed better angle. FB 83-86 T87 MPH being able to work both sides of the plate and up through the zone. FB early was higher in velocity working 83-84 later. Produced a lot of swing and miss with pitch. CB 12/6 shape blending to 12/5 shape at times working 70-76 MPH. CB had hard bite with tight over-hand spin showing ability to have the pitch work through the zone. Excellen tempo on the mound with aggressive streak. Zone was wide to both sides of the plate and used it well to get lots of strikeouts using FB off the plate for looking strikeouts. 11K, 3BB, 3H with 2 of the BB being in last inning and ending his day. Also showed well at the plate driving in a run and going 1-3. Stands tall with flared elbows and bat flat on shoulder; front leg lift with hands pulling down and back slotting back elbow. Bat works on flat path with upwards finish; when he gets into his leg shows strength in his swing and ability to drive the ball. Chance to be a two-way guy at Montana State-Billings.

At Los Altos - Montana State-Billings commit. Started for Pioneer and looked very good in warmups and for his 1+ inning pitched. During 1st inning, FB was 85-86 MPH working with decent angle to the knees on both sides of the plate. Showed strong straight CHG at 78 MPH and also a through the zone CB at 72 MPH. During the 2nd inning faced two batters and FB was down to 83 before calling for the coach. When that happened I thought the worst, but was relieved to see it was only a situation of dehydration as he came out of the game. I’d seen Torpey pitch during the summer and he’s made some jumps in overall profile. Will have to come see him again this season

8/25/18 - 5-foot-11, 167-pounds, average body type, core/base has some strength and could allow him to build some good lower body strength that will only enhance his stuff, which presently is intriguing now. Overhand slot, good direction down the slope, works quickly and attacks hitters. Repeated the delivery well and showed ability to mix pitches all from same slot. Have seen his velocity a tick higher but given the time of year that can be forgiven. Fastball fairly straight though occasionally some life/sail action up in the zone. Control of the fastball was good to the corners. Best pitch is 11/5 curveball with late breaking action. Can also change the shape of it and make it more slider like with a bit more velocity. Good feel of the ball, wouldn’t be a shock to see him sitting steadily in the mid-upper-80s by his senior season. As a position player he’s also got talent to offer, with the ball coming off his bat well and his arm playing well across the diamond. Good barrel control throughout the swing and displayed some pop in the middle of the field in the BP session. Likely a starting caliber high school position player and pitcher beyond the high school level.

6/1/18 - 6/3/18 BAWS 2018 - Lean and average athletic build at 5-foot-11 160-pounds. Narrow stance with high hands and high back elbow. Quick hands upon foot down with line drive stroke through middle of field; stays compact and ability to drive ball back through the middle. Smaller range in the infield with control of hands; showed ability to have arm dial up as needed for throws. Gives hard 90 and runs better underway with limited quickness out of box; 4.69-4.75 Home-1st. On mound showed compact arm with simple delivery before 3/4 release. Fastball 80-87 straight to both sides of plate; worked higher velocity early settling in 80-84 mph. Curveball 70-73 mph with small 12/6 action mid pitch; ability to keep spin tight and go back to back with pitch.
