3/16-18 - Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with strong lower half and squared shoulders that projects to add mass. Put simply, Spillane is a strike-thrower that shows all the traits you'd want in a starting pitcher - he's fearless, doesn't give in to hitters, shows zero emotion on the mound, and competes his tail off. While he's not going to light up the radar gun, he has a very good understanding of pitching and attacks hitters with his pitches. Spillane's fastball worked 83-86 mph and flashes late life when it enters the zone. He showed very good command of the pitch by mixing locations with it and missing barrels. He worked primarily off his curveball which is tight and shows late bite and is a true two-plane pitch working at 72-75 mph. He used the curveball as his out pitch on numerous occasions showing a lot of confidence in it, especially with two strikes. There is more velocity in his future. Delivery is athletic, with a high flexible knee lift and good direction, lands online most of time. Recoils a touch at the end. Shows solid front side stability allowing him to locate and be in good fielding position. Finished the day by scattering 9 hits, allowing 2 runs with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts against a very potent El Toro offense.
