Positional Profile: OF
Physical: 5-8, 165-pounds; Muscular, proportional build. 8.21 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet wide spread; upright bat position. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a flat swing path with two handed finish. More ground balls than line drives and fly balls with a peak exit velocity of 88 MPH via Trackman. Wide base, stays on-plane well while getting bat into zone quickly, flashes hand speed, rotational upper body with barrel slashing through the zone.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are off to the side with a clean transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. OF - 74 MPH. Gets ball out fairly quickly while closing ground aggressively, footwork at release tends to stifle some fluidity of the release.
South Bay Winter Hitting Update:
Hands stay tight with high back elbow and slightly opened stance; natural rhythm and timing at the plate that is very advanced for his age. Small load in hands back before gaining ground and doing a great job of "Turning the triangle" through the zone; allows barrel to get on plane deep and rotate around the back arm in time with the back hip showing quick hands through the zone. Swing creates lots of hard line drives through the middle of the field; can continue to maintain timing so that he doesn't get heavy towards the front foot. When he was on time and synced the ball jumps off the bat.
