vs Alhambra HS - USC commit; Top 200 ranked in California; Athletic 6-foot-0, 170-pound frame, although looked slightly bigger than what he’s listed at. Proportional strength, uses frame well. Quiet stance, stands deep in the box. Keeps head still throughout swing and uses minor toe tap. Showed great plate discipline. Short, compact swing and quick to ball. Raises hands slightly when loading. Quick out of box, extra advantage given left handed hitter. Above average speed, 4.23 home to 1st . Stole 2nd ,aggressive on bases. Pulled ball mostly but showed ability to go opposite way in final atbat. Smooth fielder, pregame warm-ups did everything right. During game, turned double-play with very quick feed to second. Fields his position effortlessly. Showed athleticism by leaping for errant throw by catcher; likely saved a run. Stayed back on ball in hole and threw runner out at first. Not the strongest arm, some sink on longer throws to 1st base but with time arm should get stronger and can develop more carry.

1/25/20

NorCal Preseason All-State: Lewis regularly showed the tools to impact a roster at the next level during 2019, and he came into the first event of 2020 with his regular quiet intensity and ability to do everything on the field well. The loose and easy swing was on display again as he allowed his barrel to work upwards on time and on plane driving balls around the field early before turning up the intensity later in the round and flashing better leverage to the pullside; the type of professional batting practice we’ve regularly seen from him. On defense the soft glove plays with rhythm and easy athleticism moving around with a bounce in his step. The arm is compact and accurate from multiple angles and shows the ability to get rid of it; he understands when he needs to put more behind it and there’s more strength in the arm than the velocity shown. We’ve seen Jeriah perform in both showcase and game settings for multiple years now and coaches needing a high upside, middle of the field athlete should take notice.

PBR Norcal Uncommitted Senior Games - Athletic, lean muscled and long frame at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds. He flashes twitch (7.01 60-yard)  and bounce both in the INF and OF. Great understanding of his zone showing patient, yet aggressive approach on his way to being on-base three times (2 1B, CF/RF; 4.60-4.72T). Swinging a wood bat in game action, one of his line drives came off the bat at 91 mph. During BP kept his hands tight working the oppo gap with easy carry from the loose hands; gets on plane and flashed some quickness in the bat. Moved from SS/CF during the games after taking SS for his workout; feet are quick taking strong angles and keeping throws firm across the diamond. Continues to show that he is on the verge of taking his tools/athleticism to the next level of his development.

2/11/19

2/11/19 - Scrimmage at Miramonte HS - Lean athletic build with streamlined proportions, still plenty of room to fill out the 5-foot-11 170-pound-ish frame, lower body has some development in core area. One of top talents in 2020 class in the region and still plenty of development ahead of him. Three game at-bats resulted in RBI single and two walks. Quiet set-up, aggressive in his zone and ready to hit, sees ball well and never went out of the zone as he got two strikes to hit and one went for line-drive single and other was fouled off. Starts with tallish set-up and slightly open, closes off a bit during stride indicating desire for ball middle away, loose hands in set-up with good rhythm, good hip rotation and hands clear the body through contact while keep body behind the ball. Well-above average bat speed with whippy barrel life. Runs easy on bases with ability to accelerate and put pressure on defense. Reads balls in play well (hits and throws) and looks for opportunities to advance. Read comebacker well when at 3rd and less than two outs, holding ground appropriately. Defensively displayed soft hands and was calm and sure on short hop picks. Feet are a bit choppy in getting rid of throws which come from an over the top slot and a somewhat forced arm action that may limit ability to adjust arm angles for different throws. Accuracy was just fair during pregame reps, arm action is that of an outfielder more than a shortstop. Moved to right spots on field for cuts/relays. First step agility to his left can improve.
