Bay Area World Series 2020 (BAWS) - Uncommitted; participated in the bullpen session only; Crafty LHP with strike throwing ability with multiple pitches. Comes right at hitters while utilizing his mix. The raw stuff will have to tick up a bit more but there is feel for pitching and enough arm speed to project more future velo. Of note, older brother Eddie Burns pitches for U of San Francisco.
5/31/19
BAWS 2019 - Large square frame with lean muscle; projection with athletic actions on the mound. Made the most of his two innings striking out 5 of the 6 batters showing a 3 pitch mix from a deceptive 3/4 delivery; lots of late swings. Delivery creates extension with some crossfire as his hands turn and lift with the athletic front knee. Body moves in tempo down the hill showing ability to locate FB (79-81T MPH) to both sides of the plate; life to his spots. CHG (76 MPH) arm side run and sink playing well off the FB location, getting one of the K’s. SLD (64-65 MPH) showing slurvy shape with small bend around plate. Liked the decisive approach and chance for three solid pitches.
