NorCal Preseason All-State:

7.06 60yd, 81 OF, 88 EV

5-11, 160 long and lean build with space for added strength. Tall stance, slightly opened with high back elbow and loose hands; knees come together in load with hands staying back before gaining ground showing athleticism in the swing and stretch across core. Loose, upward swing with top hand able to finish the two-handed swing over back shoulder; worked the pullside with some lift and shows ability to stay on the baseball (88 EV). Moves with confidence and ease in the OF showing burst to the baseball; arm is compact and loose with lofty throws (81 OF).

6/02/19

BAWS 2019 - Athletic, long frame quickly to full speed; projection in frame with lean strength and build (6.98 60yd). Uses the immediate acceleration in OF getting to the baseball quickly and using athletic frame well; compact, quick arm staying online with compact clean release on throws (85 MPH). Showed CF skills during the games tracking the ball quickly off the bat with the ability to show off speed closing gaps quickly. From a slightly open stance shows a quick bat with strong usage of his legs and bat having some loft into the pullside gap; showed strength to the middle of the field with line drives and hard contact during BP (83 EV). Continued hard contact to the middle of the field during the game with 2 hits and multiple hard outs; patient at the plate. Showed strong base stealing skills as well and fits the middle of the diamond OF profile. On the mound works with a H-3/4 release from a compact quick arm with short extension staying in tall posture. FB 75-78 flashed cut to glove side with bits of angle as well. SLD 62-69 was tight with cross-plate sweep being a weapon for him; at its lower speed the pitch would loosen creating a bit more tilt on the pitch with earlier depth. The control seemed to leave him after two quick strikeouts but finished strong.

4/04/19

at Sonoma Valley HS - Uncommitted; 5-foot-11, 160-pounds (L/L) athletic frame, room to build physically. Patrols CF very well with effortless speed and a good first step. At the plate he has a stereotypical lefty uppercut swing giving him the ability to cover the low part of the plate well, increase in strength as he gets older will result in more gap to gap power.

2/20/19

vs Drake HS - Very athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pounds, stood out for his outfield defense in this one. Good jumps, precise reads and routes with a solid arm. Right field was a tough play on this day with the wind blowing out pretty hard to CF and knocking down balls hit to him, making his jumps that much more important. Got on the mound and though the stuff doesn't quite grab attention yet, he has some pitchability and a bit of feel for the breaking ball. Went 2.2 IP, 2 H, BB, 4 K, 1 ER and kept the Trojans in the game. Offensively he has good tools, with lively bat speed and a good looking stroke. The results weren't there today but keep an eye on him. Like most his teammates today, it was the overaggressive pull-side approach that took him away from getting to his talents. Older brother was a starting quarterback and a good one, so good athlete genes in the family.

1/27/19

PBR N CA Preseason All-State - Long and lean build on medium frame; feet move well with average stride length (7.26 60-yd). Slightly opened, tall, narrow stance with high back elbow and wide hands at shoulder; knee tucks as hands work back with slight lift. Slightly upwards path with two hand finish high over shoulder; projectable swing hitting over stiff front leg that drives through contact into gaps and middle of the field (78 exit velo). Late glove with some high hips when fielding the ball; average arm swing with whippy finish. Limited usage of legs, but able to get ball out quickly (77 MPH). Space for growth in frame with raw skills that can be crafted over next years.

Pitching - Athletic body type on 5-foot-10 155-pound frame, well-proportioned and lean with ample room to fill out upper body, competed as a two-way player, on mound has high-ish high-3/4 slot, tilts head off center a bit to get arm through, controlled backside arm action, hides ball a bit, athletic delivery with easy tempo, shorter stride and maintained solid lower body stability though finishes with rotational spin off, easy arm action, fastball (T74) frequently had some cut action, best secondary pitch was change-up (65-67 mph) that had slight late fade, curveball was two-plane slurve type break (61-63 mph) with short movement and smooth break due to lack of front side extension/finish.
