Notes

Comments

7/11/21

Body: Big strong body, with good flexibility and strength.  Uses all 6 foot, 180 frame behind the plate and hitting.

Hit: With a quiet lower half, Ryan starts his swing with a quick step to the pitcher.  Hands in a position to fire with good bat tilt.  This helps him get on time and early to pitches.  Confidence at the plate, and plus pitch selection.  Keeps barrel through the zone

Power: Showed pull side power with exit velo of 97 mph.  Attacks the ball from the inside and gets leverage to elevate for power.

Arm: With pop time ranging from 1.95-2.06, Ryan was able to keep the ball on a line and with accuracy.

Defense: Very athletic behind the plate, works from ground up with pitches to frame.  His strong arms frames inside and outside pitches.  Blocking is quick and gets to the ball easily.  Quick feet to transfer from glove to hand.  Managed game well and worked with each pitcher individually to make them trust Ryan.

Run: Very athletic to start, low and in position to take off.  He ran in a straight line, with arms and legs in sync.  Posted a time of 7.19

11/14/20

Positional Profile: C/3B/OF
Body: 5-11, 190-pounds. No discernable change from recent viewing; Broad upper body, has present strength, built well.
Hit: RHH. Narrow feet, tall stance, starts with lower hands before raising up to shoulder height, long controlled stride, aggressive set up to lift the ball. Steep attack angle, lively hands, ball jumps off barrel, aims to lift and he accomplishes that; 66% on plane efficiency, 31.3% LDs, 50% fly balls.
Power: 94 mph exit velocity in live BP via TrackMan. 20.6 max hand speed, 72.5 max bat speed (63.91 avg).
Arm: RH. C - 77 mph. INF - 84 mph. OF - 86 mph. Throws track in-line, C/T throws were high but over the bag, quick loose INF/OF arm, legit arm strength plays at all 3 positions, pats ball into glove in both INF/OF.
Defense: 1.98-2.01 pop times. Massages ball into zone behind plate, soft strong hands, confident in his glove skills, athletic feet translated to all 3 spots (C/3B/OF).
Run: 7.25 runner in the 60.

10/10/20

Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 5-11, 190-pounds. Broad upper body, has present strength, built well for the position he plays.
Hit: RHH. Tall set-up, narrow feet, relaxed hands off upper chest, early barrel tilt, high knee lift to stride, rhythmic load. Explosive hips, uphill plane, loud barrel contact, legitimate power potential, pretty even split between LD/FB/GB%, 63% on plane is a good number.
Power: 92 mph exit velocity in live BP via TrackMan. Max hand speed 20.9, avg bat speed 65.71 (max 67.2).
Arm: RH. C - 74 mph. INF - 84 mph. Quick snap throw from 3B w/carry across diamond, short transfer to set up his quick arm stroke on pops, slight tail to 2B though throws consistently to bag, 3B velo projects the catching velo well with mechanical developments.
Defense: 2.08-2.11 pop times. Pops with athleticism, strong lower body with agility, certainly adequate glove arm skills at 3B and C/T ability reflects well for lower times in the future, sits deep in receiving crouch, massages ball softly into glove, showed versatility in multiple crouch positions.
Run: 7.33 runner in the 60.

7/07/19

CCB World Series - Lee was an anchor behind the plate using his arm, blocking and receiving to help his team in any way. Lee showed the true marks of a catcher taking some clean shots on foul tips and kept getting back in and making plays. The medium, full frame is wide with athletic feet and agile actions able to bounce from position and showing strength in the frame. Behind the plate Lee showed a firm wrist with quiet movements beating the baseball to spots. His blocking was also good sacrificing himself to prevent the ball from getting by and smothering pitches into the dirt. He threw out 4 runners during the games (2.09-2.19 Pop, 74 MPH) and was regularly on the bag in between innings with a quick flick release. At the plate he stands wide and very low with high even hands. There’s a pronounced upward movement from the front shoulder, but he showed the ability to whip the barrel through the zone grabbing two doubles on the final day (83 EV). In between innings I would talk with him about sequences and he had a good idea of what his pitcher wanted to do and how to attack hitters.
