Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Uncommitted - Max FB 88, FB 85-87, SL 70-74, CHG 72-75 One of top uncommitted RHP in California, lean streamlined and athletic 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. Runs extremely well, which only speaks to the velocity upside he has. Aggressive delivery (though compact and calm arm on the backside), fast arm, uses athleticism well in delivery while maintaining a calm head, overhand slot, creates stability and power over the rubber. Stays on line with stride foot though there is some loud spin off action that can calm down and allow for more consistent feel. As a high level high school athlete, he can and should be able to make any mechanical adjustments at the college level. The fastball has life and down angle, the slider has late bite and two-plane action while the change-up was thrown with aggressive arm action and can be a viable third pitch with some swing and miss potential. Was able to make mechanical adjustments from pitch to pitch. Should see some low-90s in spring action and will be interesting to see what his future holds at the collegiate level.
Outfielder - Caught our attention during the Fresno Easter Classic in 2019 and he showed a versatile profile with two-way skills during the afternoon. The fastest player at the event (6.54 60), the 5-11, 180 lb frame shows firm strength and athleticism that translated to multiple areas on the field. At the dish its a balanced set up with even hands and the ability to stay in the lower half during the swing; able to work the ball gap-to-gap on an upward path and flashed the ability to fire the hips for more drive in the swing. In the OF O’Hara moved well and showed a compact, high back elbow arm that had balls jumping out of his hand with minimal effort (88 MPH); throws were firm and accurate to both bases and shows the strength that works on the mound also. Pitching may be his future as O’Hara showed a strong three pitch mix with a strong, inline lower half and coil before letting the compact H-3/4 release get out front. FB 85-87 T88 showing run, CHG 72-75 selling the pitch well with at the plate bottom, and a SLD 70-73 flashing occasional tilt.
4/15/19
Fresno Easter Classic - Medium frame with compact loose arm projects well with more strength; clean actions. Went CG giving up 7H (1XBH), 1R, 5K. FB 82-84 T87 MPH early and sitting lower range of velo through 5IP. FB attacked inner half getting lots of weak contact with it. CB 65-68 MPH loose with depth blending between 12/5 and slurve.
