California State Games - There are few players in the class who possess the overall raw tools and twitchiness of Rivas. He's built and sculpted in a way that suggests he can run and has explosive actions, and he does. His body also shows he's dedicated to being all he can be. Rivas is a plus runner, has plus bat speed and hand speed, an above average arm, and packs more pop into the bat than being 5-foot-10 170-lbs might suggest. Having seen Rivas develop INF/OF and his ability to get to his hitting tools in games is there. He plays SS with athleticism and intensity. His overall tool and skill set would get him on the field early in college, at the very least as a utility guy, a runner, a pinch hitter, etc.

ACG Tryout - Very muscular, physical athlete. Has strong hands with great bat speed that generated some loud pop (loud RBI triple to RCF). Had a strong arm with questionable accuracy. Played very fast on defense and could slow down a tad. Ran a 6.74 second 60 and threw 84 mph across the diamond.
1/29/23
Event: South Bay Preseason ID Positional Profile: MIF Physical: 5-10, 155-pounds; 7.28 60-yard, 29.6” max jump height; Lean strength, streamlined build on average size frame, visible muscularity. Offensively: RH. EV max – 96 mph, hand speed max – 22.1 mph, bat speed max – 76.2 mph; Deep in box, a bit off the plate in very slightly open stance with medium width feet, relaxed elbows in early set-up, stretches into load straight back, creates separation from front side as he utilizes a smooth stride, gets bat into zone quite efficiently, able to generate significant bat speed, compact with ability to put ball in air with some pop on consistent swing to swing basis, swing and mechanics work. Defensively: INF – 84; Light feet, quick actions, got ball out quickly, ball comes out with velocity though lacked carry, soft hands, plays fast and athletically, could probably stand to slow down a touch and raise level of accuracy, sets up with understanding of how to open on the forehand side and drop on the backhand.

Positional Profile: SS/2B Body: 5-9, 149-pounds. Athletic build on smaller frame with lean muscle. Hit: RHH. Medium depth in box, slightly off the plate, medium width feet in balanced stance, comfortable hand set-up, small knee lift to medium stride, creates separation in a deeper hand load. Has some flatness to the stroke, some sweep into the zone from the deepish load, easy swing with quick hands, strong timing with contact point out front and ability to hit to all fields, has bat control, two hand finish with balance. Power: 90 max exit velocity, 70.1 max bat speed, 23.5 max hand speed. Arm: RH. INF - 79 mph. Showed multiple arm angles ranging from overhand to sidearm and all angles in between, quick arm, compact quick release, athletic thrower. Defense: Plays low below ball, soft hands, plays to and through ball, can play on the move, has creativity to be an above average playmaker. Run: 6.93 runner in the 60.
