2/16/19

vs Marin Catholic - Nevada signee;  Lean 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, has full 3-pitch repertoire and feel for the zone. He went 3 IP today, getting up to 87 mph while sitting 84-86. He liberally mixes in his curveball (71-73 mph) and change-up (75 mph) and can use any pitch in any count. He got hit a bit in the first inning but settled down to finish strong. He was at his best, as he usually is, getting soft contact early in counts. A fastball to opposing team best hitter got away from him a bit in that first inning and as it followed a 2-out error, it led to some scoring for MC.

6/02/18

BAWS 2018 - Body type remains same, lean and wiry. Simple delivery with hands staying low throughout. Wide arm angle with a high front knee before 3/4 release. Fastball 83-87 mph, controlled arm side run using to hitters on both sides of plate and firmness when going up in the zone. Slider 74-77 mph with ability to change the shape of the pitch and use as curveball or slider. Best was in 2nd when pitch had tilt and depth to glove side while showing tighter spin for multiple swing and misses. 1st inning pitch was more lateral with limited depth ending up over the plate as he was looking for the feel of it.

3/26/18

Boras Classic North - Best I've seen Flowers yet, fastball up to 87 mph (still 83-84 mph in 7th) on a cool morning 10 AM game, competed full game with tenacity I'd not seen yet. Completed 1-0 CG with 10 K. Mixed fastball to both sides of plate and use of breaking ball all game long, occasional change-up was also a good pitch. Threw 19 first pitch strikes to 28 batters.

10/28/17

Umcommitted; lean thin body type, again showed three usable pitches, continues to have a lean projectable frame, has feel and some present day stuff that continues to uptick slowly but surely, ball comes out of his hands well which suggests that as he gets stronger the velocity is going to come right along with that.

6/24/17

BAWS 2017 - Lean and wiry, natural and normal 6-foot-1 155-pound body, Flowers is developing into one of the better 2019 right-handers in Northern California, he has a delivery he can repeat, has feel and confidence of three quality pitches, certainly has a plan to attack hitters and the pitches to work through a line-up multiple times, overhand slot, quick arm, hides the ball well, sneaky velocity and pounds down, tight curveball, good polish particularly for such a young pitcher (was named most outstanding pitcher of BAWS 2016 as a freshman), sometimes works too slowly, with his repertoire he can work more quickly to keep hitters off balance better, but this is a talented young pitcher with a future in college ball.
