2/08/20

Long, lanky frame with an athletic delivery and a very high ceiling with tons of room to fill out. Longer arm path but gets it up on time to create a good amount of arm speed. Worked 87-89 and touched a 90 for three innings before settling in at 85-87 for the remainder of his outing. Flashed two different breaking balls with a harder slider in the low 80’s and a curveball with bigger break to it at 73-75. A few Professional teams were also in attendance to watch him as well

SDSU commit. Scarlett was as good as we’ve seen him in a long time in terms of command and velocity. Working the fastball up to 88, the San Diego State commit lived comfortably in the 86-87 range. Scarlett was seemingly cutting every pitch he threw making the actions on the fastball difficult to pick up for hitters. His slider was on point as well at 75-78 resulting in at least five swing-and-miss attempts. At 6-foot-6, 210-pounds, Scarlett has some room in his frame for development and strength gains.

3/06/18

2020 SDSU commit competed tonight and showed some poise on the mound throwing 11 first pitch strikes. Scarlett tussled through 3.0 innings of work, throwing 58 pitches, and giving up 4 runs.

2/07/18

Uncommitted. 6-foot-5, 190-pound frame with proportional strength that will add strength as he continues to mature physically. Long limbs with present athletic strength. One of the most interesting 2020 pitching prospects in the area based on his athleticism and high ceiling. Using an over-the-top delivery, Scarlett uses his lower half and a pronounced shoulder turn to drive his body into his delivery. Fastball shows cut action while topping at 86 mph and living in the 83-84 mph zone. Scarlett shows command of the pitch as he works both sides of the plate with it easily. Curveball flashes plus pitch potential because he has two varieties of it - a 12/6, spike version and a sweeping slurve shape. Pitch tops at 76 mph while working 72-75 mph. Used it as an out pitch to various hitters.
