1/04/23

A winter semester transfer from LSU, Lansville is physically mature at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds and armed with a low-90s fastball that he controls in the zone. The fastball has been admired by analytically minded evaluators as it carries through the zone effectively with high, raw spin that could be molded more efficiently by a strong developmental program. Lansville also utilizes a gyro-type slider that complements his fastball well, and the slider looked like a swing-and-miss offering back in his Colorado prep days.

5/13/21

2021 RHP Cale Lansville of ThunderRidge (LSU Commit) worked a four-pitch mix showing a fastball that touched 93 and sat at 90. He has the ability to elevate the fastball and shows excellent life and carry on it.

The slider is probably his best pitch and provides him with a definite swing and miss stuff although on this day the breaking ball showed great depth outstanding pitchability and command. Cale attacked the strike zone early, lost a little bit of command and then battled back and regained his control of the strike zone with a four pitch mix, fastball, slider, curve ball and change up. Breaking balls sat around 75-77. Cale is an outstanding competitor who pitches with a great deal of confidence.

Cale possesses one of the top arms in Colorado this year as was evidenced by the tremendous number of pro scouts in attendance to watch Cale pitch today. His arm works good and he has the ability to repeat his delivery regardless of the pitch.

8/07/20

Stocky, strong frame with a 91-94 mph fastball. Flashed above average to plus slider with tight, late break at 84-85. Struck out four and walked two in two innings of work.

4/19/19

2021 LSU commit, right-hander Cale Lansville of ThunderRidge, worked well with an outstanding breaking ball and a fastball that touched 92 mph, the breaking ball showed quality depth and  tight spin rotation, he shows excellent poise for a young player and has been helped by his high level of experience in high quality competitive situations. His ability to throw all of his pitches for strikes at any count makes him that much more effective. He showed the ability to pitch out of jams and exhibited high quality pitches throughout the game.

4/05/19

Committed to LSU. 6-foot, 180 pounds. Lansville was dominating today, and his only mistake was getting a changeup up that barely cleared the right field wall for a HR. Fastball lived 89-90 touching 91 three times, and 92 once. His secondary pitches which consists of a curveball, it was thrown at 76-77 mph with tight spin and 11/5 shape with more slurve type action but effective. The pitch was either taken or a swing and miss pitch the whole game. Threw 5 innings giving up 4 hits (two infield singles), 1 ER while striking out 9. Seven of his first nine outs were strikeouts. What is impressive about Lansville is the command of not only the fastball, but also his secondary pitches for his age. Still in the medium frame range, you can tell how much work he has put in outside of baseball since last spring, which is indicative to his fastball velocity jumping 4 mph. Lansville has an athletic delivery with impressive leg drive towards the mound.  Arm delivery is compact, and hand is on top of the baseball at a 3/4 arm slot with good reach towards the plate making the fastball play with late life, and two-seamer has late arm side run. Hips are quick and free. Works through balance point well. Change is thrown at same arm speed, and today was 79-80 mph, and will be an effective second out pitch. With his exceptional work ethic, don't be surprised to see another velo jump in a year to mid 90 to possible upper 90's.

4/05/18

5-foot-10, 147 pounds right-handed pitcher with an athletic frame. Quick, controlled arm speed through the zone, stride is straight in line, balanced with fall off to first. Delivery is clean. Still lanky, and body will continue to fill out. Fastball sat 84-87 mph with arm side run. Slider was 75-76 mph, swing and miss pitch and keeps it down. He couples that pitch with a changeup at 73-75 that he throws with fastball arm speed. Good command of all three pitches. Also has positive body language that exudes confidence. Pitched 5.2 innings, giving up six hits and one unearned run. Getting a lot of Power Five looks right now.

2/08/18

Lansville’s quick, strong arm produced fastballs that ran up to 87 mph in a recent PBR Colorado bullpen. Still developing physically, it is impressive to see what the 5-foot-10, 147-pound right-hander is able to pump out. Moving athletically through a clean delivery, Lansville drives strong off his back leg enabling him to work further down the mound as his quick arm goes through a short swing before delivering out of a high ¾ slot. The ball jumps out of his hand as he gets extension towards the plate. Perhaps even more intriguing about Lansville is his ability to spin a firm, 75-77 slider that shows the makings of a swing and miss pitch. He couples that pitch with a changeup at 73-75 that he throws with fastball arm speed. Lansville is a wiry athlete who will be greatly aided by more strength in the future which should give his clean, quick arm a boost.

1/28/18

Delivery repeats, loads lift to back side, coiled at top, lands square and stays on line and balanced. Arm action is loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball runs to arm side, 85-87mph, showed ability to command. Curveball has 11/5 shape, had bite with spin and shape. Changeup fades to arm side, 73-75 mph. Slider has sharp late break out of the zone and sat 75-77 mph.
