6-foot-1, 240 pounds, big-bodied with broad shoulders, strong and durable, should be able to improve conditioning. Showed above average athleticism with actions on the hill. A right-handed pitcher, Valentino uses a simple delivery out of a ¾ slot. A bit of a short strider, he gets upright in the delivery and stays inline throughout. Out of the stretch, he posted times to the plate between 1.71-1.76, which will tighten up with further reps. The fastball was clocked between 75-78 mph, looking best when down in the zone where he’s able to get sink on the ball. The curveball has 11/5 shape, a big bender, thrown between 64-67 mph. Valentino would do well to tighten up the break, giving it sharper bite late. Work needs to be done on the changeup, but the best ones had proper fade with the desired arm speed.
