2/23/19

5-foot-9, 140-pound, smaller, thick, strong athletic frame, good strength for his age. A two-way player, at the plate, hits from the right side, feet are even at the shoulders. The hands are loose held higher than shoulder height, for timing uses a higher controlled leg kick. The swing is level to up, gets uphill quick, barrel is in and out, needs to stay through it longer. The approach is more middle to pull, hands work well. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 77 mph and ran a 4.54 from home to first base. Defensively, had a pop time of 2.19-2.28, arm was clocked at 69 mph from a higher slot. Slight pull of head and glove on release, needs to stay through target and finish throw, has recoil to him, pop time can lower. The feet are quick, gets into an athletic secondary stance, gains ground with footwork in transfer. The arm action is super short, throwing from a higher slot. Off the mound, this right-handers top pitch is his knuckleball, dances and darts down, clocked at 58 mph, chance to be an outpitch over time. The fastball was clocked at 70-74 mph. The delivery is simple, hands start stay high, direction is inline, and gets squared up on release, throwing a ton of strikes. The arm action is clean on the backside, needs to build momentum with it. Time will tell which way he goes.

2/25/18

5-foot-6, 125-pound, thin, smaller athletic frame, shoulders are squared off, actions and movements work well together. A right-handed hitting catcher, who worked off the mound as well, was one of the better younger players at this event. At the plate, stance is balanced throughout, feet start wider than shoulder width apart, hands held higher, bat more in a vertical position. For timing uses a toe tap, which he gains ground with the stride. The swing is down to level to up, finishes it off with two hands just above the shoulders. The approach is more middle to pull is aggressive and swings the bat with authority, tee exit velocity was clocked at 74 mph, will only improve over time. Defensively, has a wide setup behind the plate, feet are accurate and work well in transfer, gains ground, gets close up with target. The arm is short and clean throws from his ear, pop time of 2.47-2.56 and arm was clocked at 63 mph. The arm recoils slightly after release, needs to stay through it and finish it off, should help in arm speed/velocity. Off the mound, fastball was clocked at 63-66 mph, with the breaking ball at 51 mph, drops arm at times. The knuckleball was his top off speed pitch, showed depth and downward action, clocked at 54 mph. The delivery is controlled, has a smaller leg raise, direction is inline, could long out lead leg. Times to the plate were at 1.28-1.75. Projects for me with the bat and ability to work behind the dish, overall conditioning and strength will aid in his development.

30 Yard-Dash: 4.57
Tee Exit Velocity: 74 MPH
Arm Velocity: 63 MPH
