7/12/16

6-foot-4, 190-pound, large athletic frame, shoulders and back are wide and  is put together well. A left-handed pitcher with a delivery that has good tempo, timing and rhythm to it. The hands start high and lower with step back and then work in sync with his controlled leg raise. The arm action works out of a natural ¾ slot, the path is short and quick on the backside. The fastball was 78-80 mph, pounded it to both sides of the plate. The sweeping slider is his best pitch, was thrown at 69-73 mph. Was able to throw it for a strike as well as being to drop it on the back foot. The change up was 73-74 showed good arm action. Worked downhill with all his pitches, could lengthen the stride a little more. Definite follow, projects for me as a potential backend guy, with the ability to be extremely tough on left-handed hitters.

12/12/15
A big left-handed pitcher, the frame is large and long at 6-foot-3, 187-pounds, he has plenty of room to add weight. The delivery is simple, has a small rocker step to the side, hands start high and stay high. The leg raise is easy, could get it a bit higher. The arm slot is high-3/4, arm action is clean, hand goes down and back up, it's smooth with no hesitation. Front side could close down a bit more on release. The fastball was 77-78 mph, has some heaviness to it, with some sink to the arm side. Showed a plus change with good action and proper spin to it, curveball was thrown at 62-63 mph. The cutter has a chance to be a plus pitch down the road, late bite and was thrown at 72 mph, could be tough on right-handed hitters. Times to the plate ranged from 1.28-1.47. The future is bright, needs to get more flexible with lower half, look for velocity to climb in next year. Good looking kid.
