8.23.18

6-foot-2, 209-pound, thick, durable athletic frame. The lower half is strong and shows to be well proportioned. A right-handed pitcher, showed a three pitch mix, mainly with fastball and curveball. The delivery is simple, quick tempo, has an athletic leg raise. The arm action has a bottom to top path, its clean and works out of a high ¾, fastball is bolted on the outer half with a good 4-seamer. The 2-seamer has bore action to it, clocked at 81 mph, with more in there, its heavy and creates a ton of ground balls. The breaking ball shows to have some velocity at 72 mph, good sign the fastball will continue to elevate. The spin is tight and late with depth, is relentless with it. The changeup is still a work in progress, not thrown much, clocked at 67 mph. Looks to attack hitter and catcher, works fast and controls the tempo of the game.  Potential to get quality innings at the next level.

6.27.18
6-foot-2, 200-pound right-handed pitcher. The fastball touched 81 mph, minimal arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is big in shape, sitting at 68 mph. Slows his hand down on the spin pitch, needs to keep the same hand speed as if he was throwing a fastball. The changeup is 71 mph, and still a work in progress. The delivery is online with his feet, above ¾ in slot. The post foot is on top of the rubber, needs to be posted in front. Athletic lift and coil at the top, repeats that. The tracking of the front shoulder needs to improve. The arm and frame work well, Strength and innings pitched should help him develop further.

11.1.17

6-foot-2, 190 pounds, average athletic build, already in the process of filling out the upper body. A right-handed pitcher, Vawter’s hands work low throughout the delivery, throwing from a high ¾ slot. Mechanically, his lead leg plants on the third base side of the mound with solid extension. The ball does pop out at the backside, and the angle the legs and arm path generate may put extra stress on the arm. Straightening out may help improve his command of the strike zone as well. Vawter works a three pitch mix. The fastball came in between 75-79 mph, though he was 77-78 mph throughout most of the bullpen session. The pitch gets some sink on it as Vawter pounded the lower third of the zone with it. He works in an 11/5 curveball with promising shape and spin between 64-67 mph. There is room to tighten the spin and with it, produce a sharper break, which will elevate an already useful offering. The changeup is raw, coming in firm without much command. Vawter would do well to continue developing feel of the changeup, which he throws between 73-75 mph. Vawter still has physical projection, shows the ability to spin a breaking ball, and growing command of his two primary pitches. He is someone to keep an eye on this spring.
