2/28/18 - 6’2/205, L/R, Junior. Athletic and strong bodied, Susi looks the part of a durable bodied backstop. He’s confident and an on-field leader. He showed a plus arm from behind the plate Friday night and at first base during the first game of Saturday’s double-header. He received fair, especially getting under the low pitch and presenting it up to the umpire. Some of that was due to Cate being out of sorts on the mound, missing up in the zone often and scattering his pitches. Cate never got in sync, and neither did Susi. Offensively, he showed a compact swing with a small load and little separation, losing bat speed and untapped power potential. Good balance out of an open stance from deep in the batter’s box and close to the plate. He controlled the barrel and used the opposite field, a function of his hit mechanics and approach. Aggressive base runner, going first to third instinctively, average runner underway. Overall, Susi is a well-rounded catching prospect who should be selected on Day 2 of the draft this June.
