There’s a lot to like in Chatman’s live, athletic body, three-quarters delivery and quick arm. The 6-foot, 180-pound southpaw has deception in delivery and the ball gets on hitters quick. He works his fastball at 90-93 mph, imparting hard, late-tailing action. Chatman’s 80-83 mph slider is his best pitch and a definite out-pitch at the professional level. He throws the plus offering with tight spin and hard late diving action that nets him whiffs while avoiding barrels. Has some feel for a changeup with good arm speed deception and sink. Chatman repeats his delivery well and throws strikes with all three pitches. He could develop into a back-of-rotation guy at the Major League level or offer value as a premium reliever.

10/01/18 - FGCU recruit continues to impress on the mound. A bit undersized, he is athletic and has a clean and repeatable delivery. He worked mostly 84-85 mph but stayed down in the zone and mixed a curveball at 72 mph and a changeup in to keep hitter constantly off balance. Has shown the ability to swing the bat well from the left side in the past and will be a solid two-way player.
