4/22/23

Originally committed to Tennessee last summer, the JC transfer from Polk CC (Fla.) was better-known for his glove than his bat coming into the fall season in Norman. He has continued to impress on the dirt with smooth actions and steady play, and now his bat has become a difference maker as well. There’s some length to his swing, but with high-level bat-to-ball skills he’s shown the ability to turn around good velocity. Batting mostly in the three or four-hole this season, the right-handed-hitting Harris shows a mature, disciplined middle-away approach that results in above average power production (.577 SLG%) with a high batting average (.369). Due to his average foot speed and range, he doesn’t possess a slam dunk profile to stay at shortstop at the pro level, but there have been others in the past, including Brandon Crawford (Giants) and Paul DeJong (Cardinals), who have overcome that draft label. Harris will likely be considered during the mid-to-later rounds (6th-8th) on Day Two.

Switch hitter with above average bat speed, took Andrew Baker deep for a 2R HR. Glove plays at SS, showed soft hands, present arm strength, quick release.
