Florida State Commit, 5-foot-11, 195-pound physical athletic frame. Above average during batting practice, Carlson recorded an exit velocity of 97 mph. Begins in an open athletic stance with a controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Had explosive bat speed, uphill rotational swing plane and high finish. He created loud contact and found multiple barrels. Pull side approach. Behind the plate, shows consistent feet, a natural exchange, and soft hands. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used an-over-the-top slot and a short arm action.

Defense: 1.94-2.11 pop times. Soft hands receiving. Moves freely behind the plate and out of the crouch. Quick transfer out of the glove. Smothers dirt balls.
