5/24/15 - Had a very good Spring and has been heavily scouted all Spring which is why I don’t think his average kind of outing this weekend will hurt him at all. He was 88-92 mph with life but I had seen him up to 95 this Spring. His CV was 76-78 with depth and a CHG at 80-81. His FB and CV are both plus ML pitches and his CHG is a work in progress. He’s got a loose quick live arm. He will need to tweak his delivery to improve his somewhat erratic command. He gets a bit deep in back with a high front side and needs to stay over the rubber longer to come out of that and not leave his arm behind. Top of the draft stuff from the left side will still get him an early call in the draft.

5/20/15 - Had a very good Spring and has been heavily scouted all Spring which is why I don’t think his average kind of outing this weekend will hurt him at all. 4/23/15 - Florida signee. 6-foot-2, 190 pound lefty who has been pretty consistent this Spring and continued that tonight with a wide range in fast ball velocity at 87-94 mph, but mostly around 91-92 mph. Could reach back and get 94 mph whenever he wanted to. Flashed a plus curve ball with good ¾ rotation and depth. Command was a bit erratic but still has top of the draft type stuff. Will have a decision to make in June.
2/3 - Athletic strong body similar to sean Burnett. Low 3/4 slot with a loose live arm. Ball jumps out his hand. FB had good run and tail. Has very good action down in zone at 90-94 mph. CV had a slurvey break to it but occasionally had depth. ML avg pitch at 80-81 mph. Is deep in back and struggles to get out front consistently. Leaves arm behind and occasionally throws uphill. Needs to stay over the rubber and break hands to get out front on time. Also has a good pick off move. Could be a good 2015 draft.
6/26/14 - Szapucki has a strong, projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds and works from a slow, deliberate delivery. He pitches from a three-quarter slot, giving life to his fastball and angle on the plate. His fastball started out sitting 90-91, touching 92-93, but he settled into the 88-91 range. He lost the strike zone in his second inning of work, but righted the ship and got out of a bases loaded jam. His breaking ball was slurvy at times, sitting in the low 80s, but it flashed sharpness with good tilt. Szapucki pitched three innings across two appearances at the Tournament of Stars, striking out five and allowing just one run on three hits.
