3/08/24
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound righthander continues to show what caught the attention of pro scouts last summer in the Cape Cod League. He’s an analytics darling with a spin profile that very few very few in the college game can match. From a high three-quarter release point with above average effort he unleashes a tight, high-spinning (3000+ rpm) curve at 77-78 mph. The pitch also bites consistently with an elite 20-22” of horizontal break. He also works with a fastball that sits 90-92 mph with 2500-2600 spin rates and a usable 84-87 slider/cutter that spins in the 2700-2800 range. With his current velocity Aita is likely to spin his way into the top 10 rounds this summer, but any uptick in velocity over the course of this spring would bump him further up draft lists.

Cape CodThe 6-foot-4, 220-pound righthander emerged as an analytics darling over the summer due to the spin profile of his repertoire. In particular, his high-70s slider that routinely spun at more than 3,000 rpm and featured massive horizontal break, caught everyone’s attention. But he also works with a fastball that sits 89-92 mph with above-average spin rates and a usable mid-80s cutter. With a 3.31 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 19 innings across a team-leading 10 appearances, it was clearly an effective pitch mix. His size and spin undoubtedly has evaluators interested in him, but an uptick in velocity is more than likely necessary for him to be more of a premium prospect.

11/10/19

6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher, long frame, high-waist, projects to add significant strength to his frame. Action is clean on the back-side, gets out front to a high ¾ slot working on top of the ball with above-average arm speed. Tall and fall delivery, works on-line, lands square, finishes crossing over. Fastball sat 80-83, late arm-side run, located around the zone. Slider, tight spin, short, sharp sweep to it, generated weak contact and pop-ups consistently in his appearance. Changeup, maintained arm speed, had fade and sink, 72-73. Faced four batters, got three pop-ups and one walk.
