Notre Dame Commit. 6-foot-4, 240 pounds. It’s very rare to see a player of this size have such good feel to hit, as you typically see some swing & miss in power hitting HS 1B’s. Mullins has some of the most effortless power I’ve seen in GA, but makes contact as often as a leadoff hitter. His plate discipline, body control, and ability to manipulate the barrel were shocking. Especially so because he’s one of the top edge rushers in the country with over 20 D1 offers in football. Mullins doesn’t have the time to spend on baseball other than during the season, as he’s basically training for football year round. His ability to just pick up the bat each spring and show advanced traits at the plate prove how natural of a baseball player he is. His easy juice was on display many times in the 2 game series, starting with a CH low he golfed (steepened barrel angle late) that went about 500 feet high, 315 feet far. An AB later he barrelled a FB in a polar opposite pitch location (top of the zone), showing an innate feel to work his hands above the ball and flatten launch angle. The most unexpected tool in his skillset is the run, as he ran MLB average down the line for a 4.21! I didn't get a good look at his arm in the series, but he easily has the instincts, first step, and range to play a corner OF position. Power hitters of this size don’t typically have lightning quick hands, but Mullins does. We’re talking plus bat speed at the size of an NFL LB. All I can do is hope Notre Dame will let him play baseball, because this is a pro talent with enough reps and exposure
