North Alabama Commit. Stop us if you’ve heard this before, another weekend full of Gherig Frei absolutely crushing baseballs. Frei is a special offensive talent from the left side and as time as gone on and he’s matured the line drives he hit earlier in his career have no become surefire doubles and balls leaving the yard. The kid can absolutely hit and he also just finds a way to get on base; the raw power is starting to show up as he went 95 EV multiple times in game over the weekend. Defensively he is sure handed and steady and without a doubt this is a player that is going to have a chance to play beyond the college level.

Uncommitted. Frei, 6-0 165, is a solid all around MIF prospect who should be able to stick at SS at the college level. He has range, good actions, the arm strength and accuracy on throws are all there and he just seems to make all the plays at arguably the most important defensive position on the field. At the plate the LHH just continues to hit and churn the lineup for the Georgia Jackets; the swing is compact and in the zone long and Frei just seems to use the whole field and hit pitches where they are pitched.
Uncommitted high-follow prospect. Impact player on both sides of the ball. Live-bodied 6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder, shows enough arm strength and actions to stick on the left side of the diamond. Athletic actions across the board; plays hard and under control. Balanced swing with above-average bat speed, level path with a mature presence in the box. Defensively, has an athletic arm, stays low, gets it out front and plays through it well.
6-foot-0 165 pounds. Frei was another outstanding infielder the Jackets 17U National squad, he made his impact known defensively and offensively on the day. He had loud contact in half his at bats while drawing multiple free passes, the switch hitter only hit left handed on the day but there was a lot to like about Frei from the left side. Defensively, he turned heads when he made a play in the whole and made a strong accurate accurate jump throw to secure the out on the play. Frei is athletic and looked to be able to man any spot on the infield if called to do so.
