Fall Upperclass GAmes
Body: 6-foot-0, 190-pounds. Strong, athletic build.
Hit: LHH. Tall, open setup, hands start high, pronounced barrel wrap on load, long stride to a balanced position. Hit path is long to the zone, mostly level through, pull-side approach, hard line drive contact.
Power: 93 mph exit velocity from the tee. Bat strength.
Arm: RH. C - 70 mph. Short arm action, slot varied between over-the-top and high 3/4, kept throws around the target.
Defense: 2.11-2.19 pop times. Flexible lower half, keeps upper half upright, clean on receiver, smooth transfers, stays low through release, at-times can get around the ball.
Run: 7.30 runner in the 60.
6-foot, 190-pound left-handed hitting catcher, strong, projectable build, athletic frame, ran a 7.25 laser-timed 60. Offensively, balanced setup, smooth rhythm, hands load back fluidly, short stride, good balance throughout. Powerful pull-side swing, whippy barrel speed, looks to elevate the ball and do damage with each swing, aggressive with each swing, 80 exit velocity off a tee. Defensively, traditional catcher's actions, short, over-the-top, kept throws on target to the right-side of the bag, 73 out of the crouch. Flexible in the crouch, creates a low target with athletic bend in his knees and ankles, fluid footwork and short on transfers, 2.19-2.25 pop times.
The 6-foot right-hander uses a simple side step delivery and shows good body control and repeatability in delivering the ball to the plate. Norris has the ingredients in his delivery and arm action of a solid strike thrower. His fastball topped out at 76 mph, and sat in the 73-75 mph range. His curveball flashed depth at 65-66 when he was out front with it.
Norris is a strong kid at 6-foot, 190-pounds. Offensively his strength stands out showing the ability to elevate the baseball for gap type power (82 mph exit velocity). Defensively Norris moves well behind the plate and shows adequate arm strength (70 mph). His transfers where quick and throws were accurate, allowing him to post solid (2.17-2.23) pop times. Norris is an interesting prospect behind the plate with solid pop times and strength to a left-handed bat.
6-foot, 190-pound left-handed hitting two-way prospect, strong lower half. Offensively, balanced setup, short stride, hands load deep into back-side, good rhythm, remains balanced through contact. Profiles as a middle/pull hitter, flashed the ability to drive the ball, 74 exit velocity. Ran a 7.53 60. Defensively, short arm action, draws the ball high to an over-the-top slot, 70 from the crouch. Clean on transfers and footwork, comes around the ball at-times, pop time at 2.22.
