2/22/20

Michigan commit. 6-foot, 200-pound left-handed pitcher, strong, physical frame, advanced, muscular lower half. Starts on the third base side of the rubber with a closed off setup, strides towards first base side of the mound, staying closed for an extended amount of time. Arm works long with quick acceleration to a ¾ slot. Fastball sat 85-88 with life. Curveball, 2/8 shape, 69-71, significant speed difference from fastball created problems for hitters, was a tough pitch to adjust to. Sparingly used a changeup at 77, mostly straight.

7/27/19

Uncommitted 2021 Jaylen Jones (Triton Rays / Thomasville HS, GA), who recently reclassified from the 2020 class, is a high-follow prospect. Strong-bodied and wide-shouldered 5-foot-11, 205-pound frame with man-strength. Started the game for the Triton Rays, and came out sitting 87-89, erratic around the zone. He has a full, fluid arm path and it’s easy out front. When the delivery was synched up, the fastball jumped through the zone. Fastball spin rate was 2300, per Trackman. Breaking ball had erratic shape at 66-68 mph. With his strength, ease and athleticism in the arm, it’s easy to speculate more velocity down the road.
