6-foot, 160-pound left-handed hitting third baseman and right-handed pitcher, lean, lanky frame. Defensively, arm works short from multiple slots, primarily will uses a ¾ to low ¾ window, kept throws around the bag, 73 across the infield. Hands played softly, moves fluidly on the infield with clean exchanges. Offensively, open setup. Short stride, hands load back extending into an arm bar, good balance. Line drive type hitter, looks to pull middle/inside pitches, 78 exit velocity off a tee. Ran an 8/31 laser-timed 60. On the mound, arm works short with a methodical draw on the back-side to a ¾ slot. Stays tall throughout delivery, works on-line, lands square, finishes whipping his leg through, crossing over. Fastball sat 74-76, mostly straight, some sink at-times. Slider, sweeping action, 65-66. Changeup, sinking action, flashed fade, 68-72. Fly ball pitcher, induced three of his fly batters to fly out to right field.

2021 John Raines right-handed pitcher/outfielder checks in at 6-foot, 160-pounds. He posted a  7.83/60-yard time. He sets up tall in the box with excellent DNA to his swing. His bat stays in the zone well and swings with good tempo and rhythm.  Strength gains could pay big dividends with his approach and swing as he learns to use his lower half more. He posted a solid 81-Exit Velocity.

On the mound Raines is very much the same story.  He uses a simple side step delivery, that he repeats and holds together.  His arm works very well, but lacks power because he does not use the lower half of his body.  Interesting actions on the mound with projection with added strength.
