2/14/20

A Duke recruit and currently the No. 16 prospect in the country. Walker has a long, projectable frame with present strength and room to fill out. He maintains balance at the plate, stays short to the ball and can drive it with authority even if he misses the barrel. While he normally plays third base and profiles best there, he started at shortstop Friday night because of a sick teammate and showed good mobility. It didn’t take long for him to make an impression, launching the third pitch he saw to left field for a home run. He added a double to lead off the eighth inning and finished 2-for-4 with a walk, strikeout and two runs scored. Collected a couple more hits Saturday, singling in his first at-bat of the day and then driving in two with a double to finish his weekend. He also grounded out a couple times and got down the line in about 4.4 seconds. Hopped on the mound on Saturday as well, sat 90-92.

10/04/19

Duke recruit, one of the top draft prospects in the 2020 class, currently ranked No. 1 in Georgia, No. 33 overall. Physical specimen, stands 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, lean, athletic build with proportional strength and plenty of room for continued physical development. Showed up shortly before Team Elite’s second game of the day and proceeded to make his presence known in each of his three at-bats. First, he roped a double to right center field, and followed it with a line-drive single to left field. Then he topped it off with a laser home run, 105-mph off the bat, that cleared the left field wall in a nanosecond. Quick-twitch athlete, generates plus bat speed with little effort; for his size and length, he stays connected. Present power with more projection in the future.

9/17/19

Walker is a Duke signee and has a big of an upside as anybody nationally in the 2020 draft. The 6-foot-5 Walker is still growing into his frame and is going to be an even larger man when all is said and done. His power potential has always been significant, but Walker put his hard work to use this summer and made strides with regard to his approach, allowing scouts to get more comfortable with his chances of activating his upside at the plate. This spring, Walker will be scouted harder than any prep baseball player in Georgia and projecting his future position will be a key factor in a club’s decision-making process.
