Positional Profile: 3B/SS Enormous raw power, passionate player.
Body: 6-5, 220-pounds. Extra large projectable frame, physical with strength throughout
Hits: RHH. Balanced setup with weight preset on back-side, barrel starts on shoulder, hands drop and cock barrel on load, short stride, good balance, some explosiveness in lower half. Barrel path is short to the zone, present hand and bat speed get the barrel extended uphill through the zone with advanced force, power/pull approach, looks to elevate and drive with each swing.
Power: 104 max exit velocity, averaged 84.2 MPH. 419' max distance. Big present raw power with the potential for more, triple digit exit velocity and 400+ feet travelled.
Arm: RH. INF-86 mph.Mid depth, full circle arm action 3/4 slot.
Defense: Plays through the ball with confidence, fields out front, soft glove, funnels into mid section, quick exchanges, gets rid of the ball fast.
Run: 7.60 runner in the 60.
GA Preseason All State
Puckett continued his Home Run Tour which started at Mercer last fall. He then went onto UGA, and finally Preseason All State hitting mammoth 100+ EV 400+ ft shots at each location. He’s not just a power hitter though, as Judd shows plenty enough feel to hit for average. When you combine a walking home run threat with great makeup, you get Judd Puckett. This 6’5 225 lb beast has many traits you look for in a dominant college bat, and got multiple college offers after this event. His 420 foot HR came off the bat at 104.3 and caused many in attendance to drop their jaws. Judd moves extremely well for his size defensively, as I’ve said before he plays SS for his HS team. He will make a solid impact as a 3B at the college level and its only a matter of time before the arm is above 90 mph (87).
Fall Campus Tour: Mercer
The PBR Showcase Legend continued his 2nd leg of a string of events, once again showing light tower power numbers!! It's an absolute spectacle to watch him hit BP. The Crawford County Crusher averaged 94.1 EV and maxed out at 104.3, sending his furthest bomb 419 feet into the Macon sky. He’s got some of the best rotational acceleration we saw in an event in 2022, maxing out at 30.3 mph with a bat speed of 83.2 mph. There are few players in the state with Judd’s passion for baseball, he shows a high level of energy in all facets and moves well for his XL frame. He shows impressive instincts at the hot corner with shocking lateral agility for his size, even playing SS for his HS team! The arm is a fit for 3B where he put up 87 mph multiple times, and we see more arm strength coming. This is one of the most slept on 2023’s in the state and we won’t stop pushing for him until he’s found a college home.
