Uncommitted. 6-foot, 180 pounds. This is a fast twitch bat whose bat speed and raw strength were on full display vs Greenbrier. He hit a ball into the pine trees foul on an inside FB, getting a shocked reaction from the crowd. Everyone thought it was gone from the second it touched the barrel. The ability to turn the barrel in tight space for consistent pull side power is one of the biggest commodities in the game today, and thats why I feel Wheeless can be a perfect fit for somebody at the next level. But he’s not just power, the speed is there too. He can really move for his size, turning in an A/AVG run time down the line. There’s plenty of room to add to the currently impressive bat speed, as I can see him holding another 15+ lbs to the frame easy. The swing is well sequenced from the lower half sink to the coil in stride, and the forward move is compact and powerful. We look forward to seeing him play more games in the future.
