+ OF Alec Nigut (Roosevelt HS, IA) jumped on a 91 mph fastball for a two-run home run to right field that was 96 off the bat. He is committed to Iowa.

6-foot-1, 185-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. #12 ranked player in Iowa 2020 class and U. of Iowa commit. Square stance, loads straight back, linear actions in box, line drive swing plane, quiet head, repeats swing well, high percentage of hard contact, 96 mph exit velocity. Confident fielder, works through ball, longer release on throws, solid overall actions, online throws with carry and accuracy to target, 91 mph arm strength from outfield. On mound; shows rhythm and tempo in delivery, medium/high balance point, good direction down mound, compact arm action with slight stab on backside, ball comes out clean in front. Fastball was 86-88 mph delivered on tilted downhill plane. Flashes above avg. breaking ball with tight spin and 1/7 shape with above avg. depth. Solid arm action and speed on changeup; left short of plate.

7/30/18- 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. 4.64 H-1B time. One of better hitters in Iowa 2020 class, double tap stride, steady head and eyes, routinely barrels baseball, occasional pop in bat, consistent hard contact, 88 mph exit velocity. Short bow and arrow arm action, playable with carry and accuracy to target, shows solid fielding ability and covers fly balls, 81 mph arm strength from outfield. Shows soft hands and receives well around bag at first base. 80 mph arm strength across diamond.

3/4/18- 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.68 home-to-first time. Double tap trigger, creates linear direction, clean bat path, barrels ball consistently to both gaps, shows ability at the plate, 88 mph exit velocity. Works through ball in outfield, has body control, solid carry and accuracy on throws, 81 mph arm from outfield. Sure hands at first base, moves around bag well, confident fielder, 78 mph arm across infield. On mound; controlled rocker step into higher crouched balance point, hides ball from hitter, delivers from OT slot, with easy effort on release. Fastball was 81-83 mph delivered on steeper downhill plane. Breaking ball is thrown close to fastball arm speed with solid 12/6 shape and depth. Shows feel for changeup to arm-side of plate with flashes of late run and sink.


7/31/17- 5-foot-9, 160-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 5.01 home-to-first. Athletic stance, easy load, repeats swing well, minimal effort and repeats, consistent line drive contact to both gaps, 80 mph exit velocity. Works through ball, sure hands, comfortable around bag, solid receiver, 72 mph arm across field. On mound; shows body control in delivery, simple mechanics, slight hitch on back-side, clean out front with extension to plate. Fastball was 74-76 mph with varying run and cut action. 1/7 curveball has solid shape with inconsistent break to plate. Shows quality fade and sink on changeup for strikes.
