2/19/12 Cain is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound two-way talent who is physically strong and has a very projectable frame. Cain especially impressive with his defensive prowess at shortstop, where he exhibited concise footwork, athletic rhythm, soft hands, and ability to play through the baseball. Furthermore, he delivered strikes across the infield, clocked at 84 mph. Cain, who ran a 7.27 60, hits from a slightly open approach. He exhibited rhythm, barrel whip through the zone and overall sound hitting fundamentals. On the mound, Cain has four pitches: a 79-81 mph fastball, a 70-71 mph curveball, a 73-75 mph changeup, and a 73-75 mph slider.
An athletically built 6-foot-3, 185-pound two-way player, Cain is an extremely projectable talent. He showcased his strong arm at the event by throwing 84 mph from across the diamond. Cain, who ran a 7.33 60, showed athletic feet and played through the ball well, particularly on the move. Offensively, Cain flashed some power potential at the plate. On the mound, Cain comes from a high ¾ arm slot and features a quick and free arm action. His fastball topped at 83 mph, and his 75-77 mph slider demonstrated some late, hard bite. He also threw a curveball in the 70-73 mph range, a changeup in 73-77mph range.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Cain has an impressive, projectable frame and showed solidly in all facets of the game. At shortstop, he showed a strong arm across the infield at 81 mph and moved well laterally. At the plate, Cain displayed a level swing which produced line drives. On the mound, Cain continued to impress. He comes from a high 3/4 arm slot with a smooth delivery and arm action. His fastball topped at 80 and curveball showed an 11/5 break.
