4/23/19

Santa Fe JC commit, currently ranked No. 52 in the state. 6-foot-5, 210-pound, right-handed pitcher; Advanced frame, long-limbed, loose-body with room for continued physical development. Started on the mound, threw a six inning, shutout. Scattered one hit, struck out two and walked three. Extremely efficient outing, threw 65 pitches in the six innings. High draw out of the glove, works quick out of a high ¾ slot. Average fastball command on this day, occasionally gets run and sink to his fastball, sat 86-88 mph early on, settled in at 85-87. Breaking ball is go-to secondary offering, 10/4 shape, short wrinkle, 76 mph.

3/16/19

Sante Fe JC commit; the No. 52-ranked prospect in the state’s 2019 class. 6-foot-5, 210-pound right-handed pitching prospect with long levers and high projectability. Against ranked No. 7-ranked Edwardsville, did not allow a hit in four innings of work, walked two and struck out five. Arm action is long with a high ¾ slot. Quick arm, some looseness. Works on line, short leg lift, can spin off toward first occasionally. Effectively mixed fastball-slider combination to keep opposition off balance, methodical delivery but quick to home from stretch. Fastball, heavy, flashed late tail and finish through the zone, sat 86-89 mph, touched 90 mph. Slider, used often, 10/4 shape with late action and sharpness, earned plenty of swings and misses, 73-75 mph.

5/05/18

Uncommitted junior, currently ranked No. 93 in the Illinois’ 2019 class. 6-foot-5, 200-pound, right-handed pitcher; Long limbs, young look, carries strength well with plenty of room for continued physical development. Set to climb in the rankings with his last two performances this spring. On Saturday, started for undefeated Neuqua Valley and went six innings, scattered one hit, no runs, struck out nine and walked one. Works out of the stretch-only, can get rotational but impressed with his ability to repeat throughout the outing and control the zone with a fastball/slider combination. Arm works long, out of a high ¾ slot; some quickness and looseness out front. Fastball, around the zone, commanded it to his glove side at times, late run and life through the hitting zone. Sat 88-90 mph in the early innings, settled in at 86-88 mph. Went to his slider often, maintains arm speed, 10/4 shape, late bite at times, feel, 74-77 mph. Was able to hold velocity with runners on base. Faced only a few stressful at-bats throughout his six innings of work. High-follow 2019 right-handed pitcher.

4/20/18

Uncommitted junior. 6-foot-5, 200-pound, right-handed pitching prospect, high-waisted, tall, athletic build. Tall and fall delivery, works in line, short leg lift balance point, hard front side landing, spins to first base at finish. More directional fall off as game progressed. Short arm, present arm speed, occasionally pulled pitches to the outside corner as a result of an inconsistent front side. Closed setup in the stretch, worked more directionally to home in stretch. Quick feet on pickoff move, fields position well. 1.34 time to home on fastball. 1.59 time to home on slider. Utilized a two-pitch mix in and both were around the zone. Fastball inconsistent action; flashed heaviness with run and sink and also cut at times, ranged 85-87 mph, topped 88 mph. Slider, 1/7 sweeper, spins it well for strikes, arm speed present, 72-73 mph. Commanded the zone early in the game pitching out of three potential big innings with timely strikeouts and defensive help. Mechanics broke down as his pitch count rose, but overall solid outing. Finished with a line of: 5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 6 K, 3 BB, 1 HBP.

2/11/18

6-foot-5, 200-pound, long limbed right-handed pitcher with well-proportioned strength throughout. Frame could handle continued physical development. Delivery works on-line, minimal use out of lower half and lands square. Firm arm action, high ¾ slot, quick out front at times. Fastball, thrown for strikes, sat 84-86 mph, touched 87. Curveball, sat 65-68 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed at times, fade action, 77-79 mph.

9/09/17

6-foot-4, 190-pound right-handed pitcher. Long lanky projectable frame. Arm plays long from a 3/4 slot. Fastball played 82-84 mph, showed arm side run. Curveball at 66 mph, lack conviction. Upside arm and frame, above average arm speed, strong follow in 2019 class.
