5.28.14 - Currently ranked No. 103 in Illinois’ 2014 class. Committed to Joliet Junior College.  Undersized at 5-foot-10, 140-pounds. Utilizes an old school over-the-head windup, with fluid tempo throughout. Arm action is loose and quick, fastball sneaks up on hitters. Early on fastball sat 82-84, fluctuating from 80 all the way up to 86, as Wright added and subtracted, occasionally cutting it. 79-80 mph deliveries may have been a firm change or “batting practice” fastball.  Worked mainly off fastball in the seventh at 79-81, with the 5-0 lead. Curveball was 72-74 and lacked consistent shape/power seen in the past. Normally a plus pitch for Wright, curve was consistently up early, but fastball was overpowering with late life for a majority of swinging strikeouts. Consistently battled throughout, with only one walk despite 14 for 28 first-pitch strike percentage, and getting into some deep counts. Made pitches when he had to, and overall threw 70 of 109 pitches for strikes.

4/18/14 - Joliet Junior College commit, ranked No. 158 in Illinois. Classic overhead windup between innings, fluid delivery, with extension, and quick arm. Lacks physicality at 5-foot-10 145 lbs, but arm action is loose and whippy. In game pitched strictly out of the stretch. Fastball sat 84-85 in the first, settle in at 82-83 with arm side run. 11/5 curveball is a premium pitch delivered at 74-75 with late action down in the zone. Varies shape against lefties, getting a little slurvier, but extremely tough to hit.
