OF Cole Latimer (Dekalb, 2026) is a name-to-know moving forward in the state. Physical, 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame with some maturity, still has room to add on strength. The right-handed hitter showed a knack for the barrel throughout BP, averaging 86.4 mph and reaching up to 95.7 mph for his max exit velocity (T358’). Athletic, quick hands at the plate, averaging 22.8 mph according to BLAST for his hand-speed (T24.3 mph) and 72.3 mph for his bat-speed (T78.8 mph). Showed to have no issues handling velocity, shooting a ball up the middle for a single on the first night of gameplay. Athletic defender with a quick first step, plays the game hard and fearlessly, tracking down a fly ball and diving into the fence, nearly making the catch but missing by inches. Reached up to 85 mph from a crow hop during workouts. Multi-sport, QB1 to watch as he continues to progress.
An athletic frame that displayed obvious bat-to-ball skills going 3-for-3 at the plate. Continued to hit the ball hard in pattern with the rest of the weekend. On the mound, showed a fastball that was 76-79 mph as well as a slider in the mid 60s. A loose and efficient arm.
Latimer found barrels today for TPA and displayed athleticism on both sides of the ball. Latimer batted out of the two-hole and went 2-for-2 with a pair of loud doubles. The RHH has a confident presence in the box with an approach to do damage. Latimer also hopped up on the bump and was an athletic mover downhill with a fastball that touched 81 mph multiple times. A two-way prospect to follow the rest of the weekend.
Positional Profile: OF
Body: 6-3, 185-pounds. Long, loose-bodied build with plenty of room for continued physical development.
Hit: RHH. Tall, upright setup, narrow base, toe tap load. Long path, favors right-center gap, uphill finish. Flashed looseness and strength in his hands.
Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 82 mph. 260’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 85 mph. Long, loose arm action from an over the top slot. Throws played accurately.
Defense: Deliberate actions, steady hands and gains ground through release.
Run: 7.65 runner in the 60.
