4.4.15 - 6-foot-1, 175-pound lean and athletic right-handed hitting outfielder impressed homering in three consecutive at bats during game one. All to left field, all no doubters off the bat. Hits from an open, athletic stance, quick wrists, fast twitch athlete, showed all pull tendencies, but faced below average velocity for most of the day. In game two, doubled to left field on a 68 mph change, singled in the six hole, well above average runner, 4.08 home to first. Long, loose, over-the-top arm slot, played right field with Barger in center. Arm strength present (88 mph in the past from crow hop), good carry on throws.
6/19/14 - 6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder impressed with physicality and overall athleticism. Ran 6.83 in the 60. Hit from a crouched balanced setup, with a long stride and short level bat path producing line drives from gap-to-gap and exit velocity up to 81 mph. Threw 88 mph from the outfield from long, loose, over the top arm slot with some carry. Stayed deep in the outfield, not attacking the baseball.
6/4/14 - Ranked No. 102 in Illinois’ 2015 class.  6-foot-1, 175-pound high level athlete.  Flashed above-average arm strength in pregame (87 mph from outfield), ability to carry throws from medium right field on a line to third and home when momentum is moving forward.  1-for-3 on the day with a line drive single to left in third at bat, two strike outs one swinging, one looking both on fastballs.  Fluid runner (6.7 60 time at past events).
2/16/14 Wiry 6-foot-1, 175-pound quick-twitch athlete. One of the biggest surprises at the Preseason All-State Showcase. Showed high-level athleticism in all facets. Ran a 6.70 60 and moves with fluidity in outfield. Fields the ball in rhythm, natural outfield actions, ball carries with accuracy, some effort in throw, clocked at 87 mph. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, generates considerable bat speed and barrel whip through zone, effort in swing yet maintains balance throughout. Level bat path, short stride, swing has rhythm, bat stays flat through zone; 86 mph exit velocity off tee. Overall, Mapes’ natural athleticism makes him a high-follow prospect in Illinois’ 2015 class.

6.11.13 - Mapes is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound middle-infielder and outfielder who was solid defensively from the outfield – displayed athletic and energetic footwork, throwing with accuracy and some carry at 80 mph.  Hands worked well and threw 76 mph across the infield.  Line-drive hitter, starts in a wide setup showing a level bat path.  Can become a better hitter with more balance and extension.  Mapes ran a 7.13 60 and recorded an exit velocity of 79 mph.

2/18/13 - Athletic, 6-foot, 160-pound middle infielder. Shows excellent foot speed, 4.08 runner home to first.
