A strong, 5-foot-11, 158-pound athletic frame, Battista gave an intriguing look all weekend. The left-handed hitter constantly found barrels and was able to drive the ball into gaps swinging a hot bat. At the plate, Battista showed rhythm in the box and a mature approach working counts and fighting until he got a pitch to drive. He sets up in an athletic wide-set stance that is followed by quick hips, then quick and strong hands that let the barrel stay in the zone. Battista is able to find barrels and drive the ball to all parts of the field. With the glove, he is a rangy outfielder who moves well and makes proper reads. Battista will be a name to follow in the 2026 class in Illinois as the summer comes to an end.

Continuing his impressive play beginning in the summer, OF Dominic Battista (Oswego East, 2026) kept the ball rolling this past weekend. Currently ranked No. 19 in the Illinois 2026 class, there is a lot to like with Battista’s game and what he presents on the field. Offensively, Battista is a top of the order left-handed hitter that has a knack for getting on base and making things happen on the basepaths. Defensively, Battista covers a lot of ground playing centerfield and is a very vocal player on the field that plays the game hard.

In yet another look, OF Dominic Battista (Oswego East, 2026) continued to produce in front of our staff, highlighted by consistent contact at the plate from the left side. Battista presents effortless power and bat speed in an athletic 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame. The left-left prospect plays the game with fluidity, and a sneaky aggression, especially at the plate. While he didn’t have much to show for on Saturday morning aside from one hit, Battista caught barrels in nearly every one of his at-bats. It’s a constant trend that our staff has witnessed throughout the summer and now into the fall, as the No. 19 ranked prospect in Illinois’ 2025 class solidified himself as a name-to-follow in the offseason.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound sophomore has above-average bat speed from a short, direct swing that produced line drive contact throughout his BP round. Battista continued to prove he’s an advanced pure hitter for his age, picking up a few hits in the gameplay portion of this event, including a double. He looks the part of a quality defender in the outfield too with fluid, athletic footwork and a strong arm that topped at 87 mph in his workout.

Used his speed in the field to play a quality centerfield getting efficient jumps and reading balls well off the bat. Made a diving play late in the game to save a double.
