C Freddie Matvias (DePaul College Prep, 2025) popped up as an impressive defender behind the dish. Listed at 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, Matvias still has plenty of room to fill out in the coming years. His defensive round was one, if not the best on the day; working with extremely quick hands throughout his transfer, staying simple and directional out of the crouch to produce a pop-time as low as 1.93 seconds (T77 mph). At the plate, the right-handed hitter has a loose swing with uphill tendencies and upside and he continues to develop.
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 6-1, 170-pounds. Athletic, lean frame with room for added muscle.
Hit: RHH. Crouched/bowed setup, long stride with a leg-hang. Whippy barrel, uphill tendencies, direct path, whole field approach.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 78.8 mph. 308’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 77 mph. Compact arm action into a high 3.4 slot with backspin and carry on the bag with accuracy.
Defense: 1.93-2.07 pop times. Sure-handed receiver, soft blocker. Replaces feet, gains ground, quick, clan transfer.
Run: 7.88 runner in the 60.
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 6-1, 165-pounds. Wiry limbs, high waist with room to fill out.
Hit: RHH. Open base with some balance in the lower half, hands start high, bat tip load with a high leg kick trigger. Long-levers, quick hands, creates sneaky jump off the barrel, pull-side tendencies.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 84.7 mph. 293’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 74 mph. Short to the ear out of the glove, over-the-top slot.
Defense: 2.11-2.35 pop times. Clean catch and release, feet work in-line with second on throws.
