8.17.16 - Verbally committed to Pennsylvania.
10.18.15 - Strong sturdy physical build, typical catchers make up, 6-foot-1, 195-pound left-handed hitting catcher. Wears the gear well, showed advanced catch and throw skills, quick transfer and release with strong arm, highly efficient out of the crouch. Soft hands and blocks well. Arm carries well and on line to target, short over the top slot, 80 mph. Posted best pop times of the event, 1.97-2.01. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, leg kick trigger, starts it early and stays on time. Attacks the baseball with aggressive swing, gap to gap guy with slight uphill path. Flashed pop, 88 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.58 runner in the 60. Peterson continues to improve his game and looks to be one of the top catch and throw guys in the state.
9.5.15 - Left-handed hitting catcher, DH’d in this game. Repeatable left-handed stroke, good timing showed to be barrel aware. Went 2-for-3 with a double and a single. Look for more from Petersen this weekend as we see more of his defensive prowess behind the plate.
6/21/15 - 6-foot, 185-pound left-handed hitting catcher, solid build. Defensively showed well above average catch and throw abilities, ranged 2.08-2.18 pop times between innings, 2.11 in game. Can improve direction to second out of the chute. Arm showed accuracy and occasional carry. Slight open setup at the plate, flashed hard contact to the middle of the field. Gap to gap approach.
2/22/15- 6-foot, 185-pound, left-handed hitting catcher. In the field has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Accurate throws with carry. Quick release with fluid footwork. Popped 2.03-2.11 and showed good arm strength throwing 75 mph from the crouch. At the plate hits from a tall, open setup, hands start low and rise on load. Line drive, gap to gap hitter with a long, uphill swing path, and fluid rhythm. Creates whip, strong thru contact with 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Home to first at 4.43
1.18.15 - 6-foot, 185-pound muscular, wide shouldered, left-handed hitting catcher starts from a narrow, open setup, long stride, hits from a wide base, draws power from legs, hands start low, load up and back smoothly, long, uphill swing, premium bat speed, barrel whips through the zone, high finish, drove the baseball from gap-to-gap during batting practice, future power potential, 83 mph exit velocity off the tee. Defensively, pop times ranged from 2.05-2.12 down to second, 74 mph from the crouch from short, over-the-top arm slot, carry present on throws. Ran an 8.03 60. A Libertyville backstop with left-handed power projection will inevitably draw comparisons to current TCU freshman, and 34th round MLB draft pick Evan Skoug. Peterson will be a high follow prospect in the 2017 class over the next three years.
8/17/14 - 5-foot-11, 160-pound catcher, some length to frame. Left handed hitter, tall open stance, short stride. Worked the middle of the field, smooth repeatable left handed swing, upside with the bat, 72 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively uses a short arm action, posted 2.19-2.29 pop times, arm played at 69 mph from the crouch. 8.36 runner in the 60.
