Although Jeff Schalk (now at UAB) got all the shine, Schieber was the one who earned the team’s MVP honors. The athletic right-handed hitter was a clutch performer for the DuPage Valley Conference champs; he finished with 8 homers, 30 RBI and a .329 batting average. Aside from his bat, Schieber ran a 6.79 60 and was clocked at 84 mph from the outfield....
The lean 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete showed off his tools in the field and at the plate. Schieber displayed the strongest outfield arm at the showcase with throws coming in at 86 with accuracy and carry. Schieber also showcased well in the infield with good hands and athletic movements. At the plate the right-hand hitter showcased good bat speed and some pop while staying inside the baseball. Schieber also ran a 7.12 60.
