6.10.15 - Drafted in the 34th round by the Seattle Mariners. 

5.19.15 - Purdue recruit; ranked No. 4 in Illinois’ 2015 class, No. 39 overall. Athletic 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame. Ostrowski was dominant in this outing sitting 84-88 mph throughout the outing. His final pitch of the game was 88 mph, and he touched 89 once early. Fastball displayed cutting action at times, boring in on right-handed hitters. Firm 80-83 mph circle changeup was used more than in the past, also displaying late cutting action. Breaking ball was the best I’ve seen it, sitting consistently 71-72 mph, with occasional hard, late, 1/7 break. He’s tightened up the spin on the pitch, and it was more consistent for strikes than earlier this season. His first strikeout of the game came on a back tip of home plate 75 mph curveball. He’s increased the velocity on the pitch from earlier in the season, and effectively mixed all three pitches. Fastball strike throwing ability was better, though still loses command at times, in this outing was effectively wild. Two of his four walks came on 3-2 counts on curveballs.  A majority of his strikeouts came on elevated fastballs, as the pitch had good life up in the zone.

3.26.15 - Purdue recruit; ranked No. 2 in Illinois’ 2015 class, No. 24 overall. Athletic 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame, one of the Midwest’s highest interest draft prospects. Started the game and threw the first five innings, allowing one hit, striking out eight, but walking eight. Walked the bases loaded with two outs in the fifth, but bared down with a strikeout on a 70 mph curveball. Fastball touched 91 mph several times early, generally sitting in the 86-90 range in first few innings. Latter innings into the 83-85 mph range. Curveball thrown 68-71 mph, early break, 1/7 shape, slows arm speed on pitch. Did not show a changeup in game. Five of eight strikeouts on fastballs.

3.21.15 - Purdue recruit; ranked No. 2 in Illinois’ 2015 class, No. 24 overall. Athletic 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame, one of the Midwest’s highest interest draft prospects. Pitched the final two innings of relief in a game that was well on the way of being a loss for his team. Season opener, low 40 temps, just getting work in. Not much could be gleaned in his brief stint, other than what we already knew, which is his arm is extremely athletic, clean and easy. In the first inning, pitched predominately at 88-89 with fastball, touched 90 once. In the second, worked mostly in the 85-87 range with one 90 in there. Curveball ranged between 68-70, early break with 12/6 action; only threw a few changeups at 81. Struck out four, walked two and allowed two hits.

5/8/14 - Elite national prospect; currently ranked No. 3 in Illinois’ 2015 class; No. 20 overall. Purdue recruit. His performance against No. 9 Lincoln-Way West was one of the most impressive outings I have seen all spring. Extremely athletic and projectable 6-foot-4 frame with long legs and arms. Came out sitting 91-92 mph in the first with only a few 90s mixed in there. In the second, 89-91; and pitched 88-90 through five. In the seventh, was 87-88. Pounded the strike zone to both sides of the plate; extremely loose arm action with, it seems, more in the tank. Very little effort, clean, athletic arm from high-3/4 slot. His curveball was vastly improved since earlier in the season (see previous Scout Blog entry from Ryan Quigley). He’s throwing his curveball harder, in the 72-73 range. He broke several off that had sharp 12/6 bite with excellent depth. Showed the ability to throw pitch for strikes consistently.  For the game, he allowed two hits, struck out 10 and walked one. A base-runner did not advance to second base all game. Overall, if Ostrowski continues to develop, he should become one of the most interesting draft prospects in the Midwest next year.

4/18/14 - Purdue commit, ranked No. 5 in the state, No. 20 overall.  Projectable and athletic 6-foot-4 175 pound frame, although it looks he may have added a little more good weight.  Worked downhill, with tall-and-fall, repeatable delivery.  Easy to see velocity gains in the future.  Loads well over the rubber, creates rotation with lower half and slight swing with lead leg, but stays online with home plate at foot strike.  Arm action is loose and quick, with advanced arm speed on fastball.  Picks up arm with elbow, for efficient arm action, staying on top of the ball, and driving it down into the zone.  Came out firing in the first sitting 88-91, with a majority of 89’s.  Fastball showed late life and pitched to both sides of the plate efficiently, especially inside on right handed hitters.  Amped up fastball velocity in pressure situations.  Ten groundball outs, several of which would have likely produced broken bat swings with wood.  Settled down between 85-88 the rest of the game, and held that velocity throughout.  Struggled to locate 68-71 mph curve the first time through the lineup, and threw a majority of fastballs.  Curve showed 11/5 plane when located later in the game, but lacks arm speed of fastball.  Flashed 78-80 mph change sparingly, with arm side run.  Premium athlete and fields position well.  High-level draft follow for 2015.

5/11/13 - Ostrowski is the No. 8 ranked player in the Class of 2015. Purdue recruit. He has a long projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 175-pounds and is highly athletic. Delivery is athletic and repeatable, shows direction to his target. Arm action is loose and quick, advanced arm speed, high ¾ arm slot. Fastball sat 81-83 mph from the fourth inning on, fastball showed excellent finish through the zone, late life. Curveball works on an 11/5 plane, shows advanced depth, 64-68 mph, sharp bite and late action, projects as a plus pitch. Ostrowski shows excellent mound presence and controls the game well, shows swing and miss type stuff. His projectable frame and quick arm, shows the ability to gain extra velocity as he fills out. Ostrowski is already one of the top 2015 arms in the state and has an extremely high ceiling.  7 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 8 K.

Verbally committed to Purdue in January of his sophomore year.
